will i have probem if i go 215/45/17? or even 225/40/17?

Is your car lowered? I'm on Neuspeed Sports and I just purchased 215-45-17's. I upgraded from 205-40-17's and bought camber kits for the rear. Once the alignment was fixed, the top of the rim was pushed out enough that the tire rubs. Nuespeeds are 1.75 drop in the rear. If you have a drop that is at least this low, I would stick the a profile of 40... Just my opinion.

yeah, my car lowered with h&r sport i think its around 1.5" lowered at the back, so i guess 215/45/17 is ok?[IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG]

What size are the tires that you have on now? That having been said, how much gap is there currently?

You should be fine, though. My tires don't clear by just a tiny bit, so if youre drop is .25 " higher then you should be okay. You could always check with the shop that's gonna mount the tires to be safe...

I originally had upgraded my 2001 lx to 17" chrome ICW wheels, and used 205/40/17, but they weren't wide enough for my wheel, so I f'd up three of four in a couple months... I now have 215/45/17 and like the not so rough ride that those 40's gave me, and I didn't lower my car, but have much room for droppage (which I will do this summer) I will post my car pic's tomorrow...

No you wont have a problem with 215-45-17 i would go with 215-40-17 looks better.

Your tire diameter has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the engine speed. The only thing the tire diameter effects is the final gearing of the car. Everything else is exactly the same.

use the tire calculator up top to figure out how much your speedo will be off. i think 215s are a bit fatty for 17s (huge sidewall makes your rims look like 16s) i'd stick with 205/45/17 or 215/40/18.

i have a 1.75" drop and have 205/45/17 and i don't have any rubbing. but i caution you, my tires sits right under the rear fenders and it will warp your fender if you hit a bad bump.

Your speedometer will be off like all hell. But when the tachometer says 6700 RPM... the engine is still running at 6700 RPM and it's still gonna redline. The redline is not affected by the tires. Engine speed is totally unrelated to vehicle speed... The speed your speedometer is reading is off of a rotating body (Probably the wheel hub) after the gear reduction in the transmission. So if you decrease the tire circumfrence, that body rotates faster, and so your speed is off on the fast side. Miles will rack up faster than actual and you speed will be off.... it will say you're going faster than you are.

go with the 215/45/17 tires. I just got that size Khumo tires on my new Konig wheels and I like them. They are a little wider than 40s and look good.

For my EX coupe, I run 205/40/17's which gives me a 4% faster difference in speedometer readings. So when I'm traveling 100mph, I'm really only going about 96mph. At 50mph, I'm only doing about 48mph. Not a big deal to me. Same thing with the odometer reading, when I hit 100K it'll really only be 96K. At that reading it doesnt really matter to most peeps anyway since its just about 100K anyways. I like the look of the 40's but it does ride harsher and you have to be a bit more careful with pot holes.
