I don't think im going to agree with you. I personally feel that chrome rims look like *** on a civic, especially in 18's.
Second, chrome weighs a lot more, especially in 18's.
I think 17's look fine, but then again, I wouldn't go any lower than 17's. Anything from 17-19 looks good imo. (except chrome)

Hold on a second, I have chrome 18" rims (Niche Spitfire) and they weigh 47lbs. each WITH TIRE properly inflated to 33psi. I know of alot more rims that are not chrome that weigh alot more. The chrome plating weighs just as much or if not a little more than the paint or powder coating that goes on other rims. The only way you will have a light weight wheel is if you have a forged wheel. Everyone always looks at the weight of a wheel without considering the weight of the air and the tire that goes on the wheel. Sure chrome may look like "***" but as it has been said before that's your opinion. At 127hp (EX models) a Civic is in no way a fast so the benefits of a forged wheel would even be minimal.
In my opinion certain cars can have chrome, gunmetal, or bronze wheels and others can't, it just does'nt look right. A civic would be one of those cars that can work with alot of different finishes. For an S2000, chrome is certainly out of the question, a 350Z the same. I would only put silver, gunmetal or bronze on a car like that because it's more of an exclusive Japanese car with alot of power and the chrome would look too flashy for it, almost un-natural. So basicly what I am trying to say is that it's what you like and what you want, and when it comes to wheels try not to let everyone else pick your style for you. It's your car.

Never been a fan of chrome rims on a civic but trucks and escalades do look sweet. Yeah they are heavy so they wouldn't fit me since I wanted something light for better gas mileage and speed
But yeah whatever you like go for it

Chrome plus Civic does not equal big balla. They don't go together. Get 17s or 18s, but get them in silver or gunmetal or something like that.... Now how about stock 15s...

CON

So, on paper, you should stay stock. Get what you want. Thats just my .02. Its your car. I like silver with deep dish polished lips, 666 likes chrome. I HATE chrome. If you get a substantial tire, your ride shouldn't be too bad. I'd say not to get 18s though if you live somewhere with excessive potholes. That can be a big problem.

personally i would go with 18's silver or gunmetal
but chrome, or no chrome... its all up to you.. dont put something on your ride that YOU dont like just cause other people say its good
oh, and dont worry too much about the weight since, in the end, the car is still going to be pretty slow

I agree chrome looks...eh...ghetto on most Civics. There are a few nice ones I've seen, but for the most part IMO chrome belongs on Cadillacs and Denalis.
18s will give you a little harsher ride, but not that bad. Just make sure to go with 215/40 instead of 35. 35s suck hard!
Another thing to watch out for is the lip. Lips look nice, but they make the rim look smaller. Do a side by side comparison of a lipped rim and a non-lip rim, and you'll see what I'm talking about. That's probably why Spider thinks his rims look small. They got a lip!
But anyways, it's all about the look. If you like chrome then buy it! A lot of people tell me to get chrome on my car
I work at Discount Tire so I pretty much look at rims all day...
Good luck!
edit: 666's ride actually looks pretty nice with chrome. I like the Niches.
