Serious scratchs

I just moved to Texas from Seattle where I had to parallel park daily and i have a bunch of scratches all over my 17s Qteks from curb parking. Is it possible to sand with fine sandpaper the scratches then get some metal polish and polish the whole wheel? What other alternative do i have as i'm strapped for cash right now and can't afford the 18s that i want? Any help would be appreciative. Thanks

If you sand the wheel you will take the clearcoat off and that will cause the wheel to oxidize unless you spray it with some clear paint, then that will help. Thats probably your only option though.

My right 2 wheels have the major scratches from the parallel parking but my other 2 have minor. So do you suggest sanding the entire wheel, applying about 2 coats of primer, 2 or 3 coats of silver or black, and 2 or 3 coats of a heavy duty clear coat? Kinda like a car paint job but for the wheels, it would work if i did all the prep work and applied the coats evenly right? Or should i take them to a paint shop and see if they can do it for a cheap price?
