New rims need tire ideas...
Hi all i am soon getting the rims off a 2000 Civic SI and I have no idea what tires to put on them, i know the stock tires that came with my 02 ex suck so def not those. I just want a good all around tire that will last and still be good for a little street racing here and there. If anyone has any sugestions i would appriciate it.
I might be tempted to go with 205/50-15 Kumho ECSTA 711's.
Good things:
*They will be sticky with a reasonable 320 AA treadwear rating
*They are very inexpensive (as far as a performance tire goes)
*They will be shorter than your stock tire, so your car will act like it has a higher (numerical) final drive ratio. This is good for racing
Bad things:
*Shorter tires are what cause speedometer error. Please use the "Tire Calc" link at the top right of the entire page. You would have to remind yourself that when your speedometer shows 50 mph, your car would actually only be traveling at ~47 mph.
*Shorter tires would cause the dreaded fenderwell gap too.
BUT....The closer to stock diameter, the less you have to worry about this stuff. A 195/60-15 is approximately the same as the stock EX diameter.
