Only my passenger side brake pad is worn down...
Changed my oil and rotated my tires today, and while doing so I checked out my brakes. My driver's side rotor seems to have some very fine grooves on the surface, they weren't rough at all when I felt them, but I could barely feel some. That side's brake pad was in near perfect shape. However, on the passenger side, that rotor was VERY smooth, almost perfect, but the brake pad was worn down...I would say in the 50% to 75% range. Why just that one pad? Now I need to get new brake pads (not gonna just replace one, doesn't seem like a good thing to do). Any specific brands to recomend? Are the AEM/nissan ones any good?

I would definatly go for the nissin pads. i'm just waiting for my og's to go out so I have a good reason to install them. Better braking and less black dust. Make sure that you get both of your rotors turned so that everything starts out even.

What do you mean by "both of my rotors turned"? And whats the average price for a pair of the AEM/nissan pads?[hr]

I'm a little confused on what you said about "one pad" because there are 2 pads on each caliper, and both pads should wear evenly on each caliper on each side. If the drivers side (left) looks fine but when you pull the pasenger side wheel off (left) and it looks almost wore out, theres a problem. It could be a caliper sticking, or a possible brake line clog or restriction.

When I say "one pad" I talk about both pads in the passenger side caliper as ONE. Meaning, that side is worn out noticably more so than the driver's side. Oh and I have never heard of that procedure being refered to as "turning the rotors". I have always thought of it as "having your rotor's surfuced or resurfaced".

Still both sides of the car should wear evenly, if one side is noticably wore down compared to the other side then you might have a caliper sticking or a flex hose with some blockage. Unless you race your car hard through turns, and heat up the brakes a lot, then they should wear evenly.

So I should plan a trip to the dealer? Or are there any ways I can look/test for those specific problems you mentioned?[hr]

The easiest thing to do is have a certified mechanic look at your brakes and get his opinion, it might cost you a couple bucks but it will save you time. Brakes are the most important thing on your car, so you need to take good care of them.
