Just a question but are you applying constant pressure on the brake pedal while going down the hill? Its possible that the brakes are heating up and grabing, but normally just the oposite happens; the brakes heat up and fade. Do you hear the ABS module clicking under the hood and does the brake pedal pulsate? If you don't the ABS isn't activated so at least you know its not a problem with the ABS, but if you do than it could be a problem with it. I'd take it back to the dealer and have a tech ride with you and show them first hand what happens.

Are you from Lakeland FL? Where is there a hill in Lakeland?

iono man... I never had that problem. My ABS only kicks in when I step on hit hard!! Its saved my life quite a few times though, or at least saved me from accidents... Maybe it'll help if you downshift + brake at the same time...

I had that problem too. Is your car an automatic? Because I took mine to my dealer, showed him and I had mine explained to me. With the overdrive autos (4 gears) the torque converter will lock, to increase fuel mileage. When you step on the brake, the lock releases, and there is that sudden jolt, when the tranny drops a gear, from 4th to 3rd. If you have an auto, don't worry about it, apparantly it's normal.

When I first bought my car, even after the break-in period for the breaks, it seemed like ABS would kick in occasionally under light breaking in non-slipperly condionts. After I bought my 17in tires, hasn't happend expect when its supposed to.

If your car is an automatic, Zman2k2 is probably right--the jolt you feel is your tranny downshifting into a lower gear when you tap your brake. This especially happens when you top a hill and slow down for a turn-off.

Next time take a look at your tachometer the very second you feel that jolt start to happen. Hopefully you'll see the revs jump and that will prove this. If so, you are OK.

If you have a 5-speed, ...

Like it was said before. If your car is an auto it will make that jolting sensation when going down a hill and braking. It feels kid of like a small downshift in a 5 speed or something. Its not the brakes its the tranny, its is meant to do that as well, I am not sure if the purpose is to save fuel, or help assist in the braking or what, but it is meant to be there and is common.
