18's, 40's, and potholes

I noticed that most of our 7th gen Civics have 17's on them, i want to put 18's on mine but i live in an area where there are lots of potholes and uneven pavement. Would it be smart to go wit 17's and 45's or it really doesn't matter if i put 18's and 40's.....thanks guys...

i live in new orlenas, pot hole capital. i got 215/40- 18 and no problems here. steering wheel shakes , noisy drive, and feel a lot of bumps, but with 40's your chances of beded a rim drastically decrease. i say 40 series.

It's all about the look and what you wanna go for. I think either way will be fine, but there is extra protection with 40s. I have 215/35/18 and have some pretty crappy road conditions where I live. Alot of people that drop their rides seem to think that 40s are too big, so if you are gonna drop it you might wanna run 35s. Bottom line is go with what you like. I haven't had any problems yet......and I've had couple of nasty run ins

yup.. 40s with a drop and no kit is a no no.. looks ugly..
40s with a 1.75" drop and kit looks nice
35s with a 1.75" drop and kit leaves big fender gap, 2.25" is kinda too low with kit. 35s with 2.25" and no kit is nice
