stock tire purchase
Has anyone had to buy new stock tires?
How much did it set you back?
I had one go flat on me a while back and firestone charged me 100 bucks for the tire and mounting....I don't want to get firestones but they are the only one that makes that tire size i think...
Any help would be greatly appricated
thanks

Your best prices are usually online. I buy from Tire Rack
most often. Go to http://www.tirerack.com/index.jsp and hit the "search your tire size" link. Put in your tire size. You can sort the results by price. When I get them, I have my tires mounted (balanced, new valves, etc) at a local Costco for about $11 per wheel.
I don't know what size you have, but as an example in the 185/65r-15 size they have a number of decent tires in the $50 range. Firestones are not so great. You would do better with Dunlop, Sumitomo, or Kumho. Kumho's are generally the cheapest at about $40 per tire in the 185/65r-15 size, plus shipping of maybe $10 to $12 for a pair.
I don't know if you are buying one tire or a pair, but I try do keep my better tires on the front. If you are going to have a mismatched pair (same size, but different brand, amount of wear, etc), I would put them on the rear. The back tires are not quite as critical on a front wheel drive car.

I had my right front tire go out on me and Firestone charged me $70
...I woulda got a cheaper and better ones that our crap stock tires but I didnt want two different tires up front
Buy the tires from someone online!!
Tons of people are selling their whole wheel set; buy it for cheap, instead of paying 100 for each TIRE ALONE.
Throw away or sell what you can't use (actual steelies or hubcaps); you'll have FOUR almost new tires for a way cheap price.

I had to pay 6.00 to get rid of my stick tires, but it was worth it, those were the worst tires i ever used! I but the blizzak's on for winter and they handle great on snow.. better traction in snow than the stock firestone's on dry pavement! go figure....
