What is offset??
Just wanna know if someone can define what offset is. I hear bout it all the time, but I am not sure how it affects/relates to our cars. Also, if someone could tell me what is the stock offset and what the recommneded offset (if any) is for aftermarket wheels. THANK YOU!
From 1010tires.com:
Offset
The offset of a wheel is the distance from the mounting surface of the wheel to the true centerline of the rim. A positive offset means the mounting surface of the wheel is positioned in front of the true centerline of the rim / tire assembly. This in effect brings the tire in to the fender well more. Conversely, a negative offset means the mounting surface of the wheel is behind the true centerline of the rim / tire assembly. This will cause the tire to stick out away from the vehicle.
everything you wanted to know about wheels but were afraid to ask

i've been wondering the same thing today and ppl seem to be saying that the offset should be 40-45, but that 40-42 is ideal. but that was for 17" wheels and tires, for 18" maybe 45 would be better but prolly 42 or so will be fine.
