New brakes & disks

I have to replace both sides OEM brake pads and disks. I am looking for vented and drilled disks, with high quality pads. What brand and size would be the best to use on a 2001 LX, wich has 17" during summer and 14" during winter time ? Just as information, I drove 66400km since december 28th 2000, and ride at speeds up to 200km/h.

Thanks.

IMO, and if ya have the money, go with the AEM Big Brake kit...uses existing stock components..but if ya wanna save money & piece a system together, heard good things about Brembo rotors, Power Stop Rotors & Neuspeed rotors...I am actually going with drilled Neuspeed rotors...and mate em up with some EBC Green Stuff pads or AEM/Nissin pads and u should be good...

If you're gonna use the 14's in the winter, you can't get the big brake kit unless you leave the 17's on year round. Brembo makes an OEM size set of slotted or drilled rotors. Just make sure you get the real Brembo machined set, not a set of shop drilled blanks. AEM pads or Brembo pads are good. I've heard the EBC pads are a little squeaky.

I have a set of the brembos with AEM pads and they work great. Drilled rotors make an interesting noise when they are cold so be aware when you put them on. There are very good rotors that are only slotted and I may go with a set of them in the future to eliminate the noise - i am also not driving as fast as i thought I would be and the harder pads in conjunction with the drilled/slotted don't warm up fast enough or stay hot enough to really be effective. if you are a hard driver all or most of the time then you should be good. The green stuff pads are excellent as well - -make sure you use enough stop sqeal though as they tend to be noisy.

much lock.

from what ive heard the slotted are stronger than drilled rotors, also, what is the smallest wheel the Big Brake Kit will fit? 17's, 16's, ..or even 15's, i know youve said that they wont fir 14, but i was just wondering, this is the first time ive checked this part of the forums.

Slotted are definitely stronger than cross drilled, cross drilled could crack under hot braking conditions..the reason being that some companies actually drill the holes, instead of molding them into the rotor during the manufacturing process.

the big brake kit you must have at least 16 inches, but not all 16 inches rims fit. So you must get like 17 inches +

and Boilermaker1 is correct. Make sure you get the real Brembo Machined Set. I think the brembo blank works good enough unless you want to look good also. Else you can save yourself some money. Remember to get brake fluid change(get a higher temp one ex: dot4) along with your new pads and disks

hey man I hav ebrembo cross-drilled/slotted rotors and aem/nissin brake pads they work great. I'm sponosred by iRotors and yes they drill the rotors themselves but I have had them for almost a year now and have taken them to a real road course in VIR and the held up great so i would suggest them. they can usually hook u up on a price too so far I know that he is doing $100 shipped so that might be the route to go. i hope this helps
