Rear drum to disc brake conversion???
Rear drum to disc brake conversion???
I am not a big fan of painting my drums and really want 4-wheel disc brakes. So my question is, how much do you think it will cost to get a rear disc brake conversion and where I should start (like where to find a DIY or a conversion kit)???

Find a set of Si rear disc calipers and discs... You'd be looking at about $800-$900 new for the calipers, and depending upon what discs you went with (stock or aftermarket) you'd probably be looking at about $1100 to do it. There is no "conversion kit" available yet so you'd have to do it yourself or get a shop to do it. I'm not sure what it involves after you get the drums off in order to get the discs on.

the conversion would require more than that....Call your local honda dealer and ask what would be needed. I know canadian Acura EL's have 4 wheel discs brakes

dont waste ur money on it cus u can hardly notice the different, investment should be costly and dont try to play mechanic on this one, were talkin about a safety issue here, let the pro do it if u can find one cus thats a liability concern these days, try performance pads for the front and pay someone to paint the drums for u.oh well,,just lay back then..

i also don't see any applications for 01-02 civics. and even 13" front and back will throw off the balance significantly, considering a FWD honda is obviously not 50/50 weight distributed.
Travis: Yes, we have a rear kit available and the price is $999.00. It can be configured with a single aluminum caliper and include the parking brake, the hoses, pads, 13" rotors and all required hardware. If you want four piston calipers, you have to give up the parking brake. The cost remains the same. All prices quoted are plus shipping and handling.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Travis: That is great news. Our standard member price, as offered on the Web site for the kit that would fit your Civic EX, is $999.00. We can offer that same kit to you, with DBA Rotors, Wilwood Calipers and Pads, Braided SS Lines, and all required hardware for the special price of $799.00, provided we can take your order today. The price goes up tomorrow by $100.00 and will remain at $899.00 for August. Prices quoted are plus shipping and handling.
Thank you for considering PBC for your special needs. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
I could see if it didn't come with the proportioning valve, but it does. That should handle most of it. Plus it's only a single piston in back compared to a 4 pot up front.

Look at the email above. They have the kits for our cars. Just because it isn't on their website doesn't mean they don't have it.
Hey hey CivicLX620, go to http://aempower.com/product_brake.asp. I'm not sure how everyone feels about AEM, but I've heard good things from them, and this kit is only like $750 on overboost.com. It's, they claim, the "only complete drum to disc conversion, with no drilling, etc required" again, i'm not sure how you feel about AEM, but I've seen the kits, and it's top notch stuff.
well, i hope this helped.

well, good, the link above doesn't work for some reason, but if you go to www.aempower.com, click on the drag car, then click on products (upper left of the screen), and then on "big rotor brake systems", you'll see it there. good luck
