they are illegal cuz they have no tread and arn't safe at all for a street driven car.

True slicks have no tread, thus are not DOT approved. There are DOT Slicks and drag radials. This one sucks. This one I like. There are others, but you get the idea. There's one from Nitto (NT 555R Drag Radial) and although not technically only for drags there is the Yokohama A032R that is used by some for drag racing, as well as track and road courses. Most sport compacts that are at the drag strip cannot take advantage of a true slick. So drag radials are generally the way to go. Hope this was helpful.

Edit: prices range. $112 is the cheapest I've seen them. The one I would use runs about $125 in my size.

the usefulness of slicks or even drag radials on our cars is kinda pointles.s. the added grop off the line will only cause your clutch to slip... just some good performance tires are all that's needed..

Cool.. basically too much $$$ for their use...and won't help your E/T because wheel slippage in a low torque engine is a good thing to keep good power to your wheels..

Partially true. However if you have a good aftermarket clutch then you car can take advantage of the additonal grip. Any car running stock will not be able to take advantage of these tires.
