Tire Size and Spedometer

Ok. Here is what I was thinking the other day. Some wheels size will actually make it seam like if you are going slower or faster. For example you are going 60 mph but in the car it marks you at 55. So if the car marks 55 the is the milege on car will also varry? For example a car that trable 40,000 miles marks in the dash as only trable 35,000.

yes the different size will affect the total miles on the car, but only on the speedometer, not the engine. Thats why its recommended to get an overall size that matches the diameter of wheel and tire as close as possible. Use the tire calc to see whats closest to stock. On my coupe I have 205/45/17, which is only a difference of .27 percent, not even 1 percent, so there will be very little difference in the mileage on my speedometer and the miles on my engine.

Yeah I am looking at bigger so I lose miles instead of gaining with 215/45/17 or 225/45/17

Thanks guys.

See the reason that I'm asking is that I drive my car about 25,000 miles per year so if I decide to get another car in the future my car will not show as much on the speedometer and I belive that will raise the price when it comes to a trade-in.

that's also fraud if you don't tell the person that buys it, and dealerships have otherways of getting the mileage than just the odometer. just wanted to let you know before you get your hopes up.
