how to fit 16x6.5 Miata wheels on a '01 Civic DX 4 door
I posted this info in the General forum introducing myself and my new to me Civic, but thought I would post it here in case anyone is interested in the cheap wheel upgrade I did on my car.
After some thorough research I concluded that early 4x100 Miata wheels should fit a 7th gen Civic. The offset of the Miata wheel is 40, and I was aware that the center bore would have to be reamed 2mm as the Miata is a 54.1mm center bore and the Civic is 56.1 center bore if I recall correctly. I had a local machine shop ream the centers for $10 per wheel. I paid $25 per wheel, so they basically cost me $35 a piece. These 16x6.5 Miata wheels weigh 15.5 lbs each, which is really a very reasonable weight for that size. Sure, there are lighter wheels out there like some of the Enkei wheels, but they are about 7 times the $$$ I paid for these. The tires are 205/50-16 so it's a true Plus 2 setup, and my speedometer reads virtually the same.
Anyways, here are the pictures. You'll notice in the last picture that the front wheel is pretty much flush with the fender lip, and the rear is inset just a small amount. Yes, I know I still have the stock wheel gap, but I live in western N. Dakota, and ground clearance can be at a premium in the winter, so I don't think I'll lower the car. Anyways, am very happy with this cheap upgrade.

A couple more pictures now that the weather has turned nicer. I prepped and painted with silver POR 15 the brake drums and front hubs as they were pretty corroded. Painted the calipers black, also POR 15. The looks of these Miata wheels has really grown on me. They seem to suit the car as they are from the same era of Miata (2002) as this Civic. I also put the bike rack back on that the car came with.
