Tire diameter ? - dropping a size for snows?
Tire diameter ? - dropping a size for snows?
I have a 2005 civic,
I am in the market for snows
Tirerack starts packages at
14", even though the stock
Size is 15".
I've heard for snow the smaller the tire size, the smaller the path made, is better... But will 14" wheels and snow tires lower the vehicle?
Ground clearance clearly isn't abundant in a civic...
But 14s are obviously cheaper.
Any opinions?

With a 14 inch wheel you will have a taller sidewall tire to accommodate for the smaller wheel and keep the same rolling diameter. With a proper snow tire I am not so sure a smaller footprint would help out since you want more tire to help get you through the snow.

Lol, when I was stationed in upstate NY, I drove around the snow with 17's and 215/45-17 Nitto NeoGens. I had no issues at all, owned snow cables, never used them until I was stationed in WA state.
