I just purchased a set of 17" proline rims.
will these wide
tires go on this little *** civic, and what should i do or where should i start with this hugh project. Or is it even worth it for a 16 year old honda?

what's the offset of the rims?
225 is pushing it with a civic, especially with a 50 sidewall. Rolling the fenders will help with tire rub issues
215/45's fit nicely. Case in point, I'm lowered 2.5-3" with 215/45-17, rims with an offset of ET42, and I have minimal rubbing issues (only on full wheel stop turns taken at some speed).

offset should be stamped somewhere on the inside of the rim, yeah.
so im about to buy some lugs and spacers just need to know how thick i shouldl get, want to get enough but not too much, 55 nough

thanks for the tire size tho ill be sure to strap them wit the 215/45/17 when it comes to it, until then ill just haft to feel the burn, save the cash up im sure they like 500-700 for rubbers.............
225 on a 7" wide wheel might look like a balloon? Might want 215 instead?
I run 225 on 8" wide wheel.

i need to know what spacer to get for a 42 offset, whats a stellies offset, isnt it the space from the edge to the mounts>....I can't do this in my head (I really don't do wheel calculations at all)...I'd bolt them on the car (if possible), set it on the ground, turn the steering all the way lock to lock checking fender clearances, check suspension bounce clearances..... and then start measuring to calculate how fat a spacer is needed to get the look you are after.
Will they rub then? IDK.
If you are going for a certain look, you may desire different spacer thicknesses front vs. rear.

I think it will hit the strut mount on the top the tire so at least 1"? and i can always add a slice right? what did you go with on da 8"?

Here, play around with your numbers and see what you can figure out:I think it will hit the strut mount on the top the tire so at least 1"?

What size are the tires on those 17" wheels now? If they are taller than the stock tire they can make contact with things that a stock diameter tire may not.
FWIW a 215/45/17 (24.6" tall) is only about 1/2" taller than a stock 185/70/14 (24.2" tall)or a smidge shorter than a stock 195/65/15 (25" tall).

No, I think stacking multiple wheel spacers is strongly discouraged even more than spacers and adapters are discouraged. and i can always add a slice right?
If you get 1" thick spacers you might want to instead use adapters or you might need to convert to much longer wheel studs.
With a 1" spacer slipped over the stock wheel studs I wonder if there would be much exposed thread left for the lugnuts to grip and still be safe. Some lugnut designs are made to go quite deep though.
Research research research!!
Remember, I don't do this kind of stuff so my input may not mean squat.
I run 215/45/17 and slammed...with no rubbing...
I like the look.
I like the feel, reminds me of racing my karts! You feel every pebble and crack in the road.
Don't like the road noise...

et42 should fit without spacers. That's odd that you're hitting strut.
edit:
my car with 17x7 et42 wrapped in 215/45-17's, no spacers, lowered about 2.5"
