What pads can use in Nissin calipers?
What pads can use in Nissin calipers?
I have just bought my first car, a used 2001 Honda Civic ES and am trying to understand what brake calipers and pads it uses.
According to VIN number JHMES55901S204957 the parts on this car are these.
Here's the list of OEM analogues for calipers which as I understand are Nissin system.
But when looking at OEM analogues for brake pads there are no Nissin pads, mostly Sumitomo and some Akebono. Will they fit in Nissin calipers? I find it very confusing and can't find any decent info about brake systems online. Can any one explain how to know which pads should fit my stock calipers? Here are some pictures of them through the rims.
Any good resource where I can read about brake systems? The sticky FAQ post doesn't mention this.

they are made by different companies, that is the difference.
There are several companies that makes brooms, but it still is a broom.
As long as the year model matches, they are made to fit.
Nissin is not Honda, but it is in the car because it was made for the car. Same thinking on the pads.

So, are Akebono and Sumitomo companies making pads? Why are they sold branded as Bosch, Brembo, Ferodo, etc? If Sumitomo is a major brake manufacturer, why can't I find their home page online?
Re: What pads can use in Nissin calipers?
Companies do that regularly. It is not cost effective for Bosch to develop a manufacturing facility to make brake pads when they can go to a company that is already established and have them make it. Bosch can use there own "formula" or have the company create a pad that's meets Bosch's price point and quality. A Honda OEM wheel is not made by them. A wheel manufacture makes it to Honda's specs.
Autozone, Napa, Pep Boys, O Reilly's all sell brake pads. Autozone doesn't have a brake pad manufacturing plant. They find a company that makes them already and get a contract deal. This is why often these parts are the same except for the name on the box.
Some companies do not supply to the public and only work through contracts. That pad manufactur is probably this way. They also probably make pads for Toyota and Nissan.

@sdaigoji Because to be sure I'm buying pads that will fit, I need understand how stuff works and what those terms mean.
@GolNat Thanks, that was helpful. One thing that caused my confusion was that some sites show wildly varying size brake pads as supported on given vehicle. For example mister-auto.dk lists pads with with length from 129 mm to 148.8 mm as supported which seemed wrong. Either they have error in the site, or there are 2001 Civic sedans with different stock caliper setup.

The mister-auto web store didn't have any engine size related filter. They retrieved car spec from my registration number plate. I looked at specs of other Civic configurations/regions, but all of them seem to use same brakes. Also I doesn't notice any 2.0 L engine versions for this car version when when browsing 48parts.com

They manufacture far more than just brakes.
