New wheels - would they fit?

I just bought new wheels for my car, but later realised that the wheel diameter is larger by 1". Just wondering if they would fit and if the brake clearance would be OK?

My recommended tires are 185 65 R14 and my new ones are 185 65 R15

Im in canada if that matters. anyone had any experience with that?
The guy that sold them to me said he had them for 1 season on his civic that was same year. Im going home at lunch time to give it a try, in mean time cant help but thinking about it lol.

If your new wheels are 15" than you would need 195 60 R15 tires on those they will clear the brakes ok this information is strictly for 01 05 Honda civic 2DR or 4DR this is the factory recommendation on a factory alloy wheels set up but should work on after market as well. I hope this help Thanks

Hey thanks for reply!

They are actually already fitted with tires. And they are just steel winter wheels not alloys. Either way im going to give it a try in a few hours, hopefully wont break anything inside there.

My 02 ex came stock with 185/65-15's... I'm currently rocking 215/45-17s. My new tires are 3cm wider and the rim diameter/tire I.D. is 2" larger

Per tires.com, the dx/lx models came with 185/70-14's

As far as your new wheels clearing everything, what's the offset of the rims? IIRC, civics can typically accept offsets between +35 to +45. I can't recall where I got that information from, however, so take that with a grain of salt.

If you are going larger, then brakes shouldn't be an issue. I wouldn't worry about the brakes clearing.

Your tires will be taller than the old ones, so it will effect your speedo and possible gas mileage. Find a tire size calculator online and get the right diameter for the tire or it will cause more issues than stock diameter will.

Offset is tricky if you want to be precise. I managed to get some very well fitting wheels/tires for my old Typhoon, by calculating it all out and measuring and such. I am not going through all of that effort for you, but wheels are hard to return so make sure it's right before you order.
