Stripped right bottom caliper bolt- still tightens
Stripped right bottom caliper bolt- still tightens
I'm replacing my brakes and I was wrenching on the bottom bolt for a few minutes and it still has play. The top torqued to 25 ft/lbs but the bottom keeps going. It's still really snug, so is this something to worry about, or as long as it's tight i'll be alright? Thanks for any help.
EDIT: the same thing happened on the left caliper. I can turn the bottom bolt under my own power with a short socket, but it takes a good amount of force. Both are on there tight. The top bolt on the left caliper wouldn't even come out but I just swung the caliper up and that wasn't a problem.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

If it won't tighten up then the threads are damaged on either the bolt or the hole it threads into, or both.
Heli-coil thread repair insert?

It's just weird to me that both front bottom bolts will tighten, but not all the way. I'll check into the inserts, I didn't even know those existed. Thanks for all the help I really appreciate it!
