Will these work, his current tires are 185/75/14 for an 05 DX. Good deal on craigslist.

If you can get the correct wheels to fit 16" tires, the overall diameters are extremely close and would work fine as far as speedometer error goes.

But you can't put 16" tires on 14" wheels.

4x100 bolt pattern, +38 offset on 7" wheels is common setup for the 16's, some speedometer error expected.

Re: 205/55/16 tire for my kid

Thanks I talked further and they came off the same car as my kids DX VP pkg 2005.

Does a larger tire have any effects on wheel bearing wear or suspension. I am weighing them against some 14 inch HX rims.

16 look better but will ride be stiffer and handling better with the lower profile?

Thanks

Do these tires come with the wheels too?

The tire is not "larger" as far as diameter and revolutions per mile. According to the online tire calculator, those two tire sizes are damn near the same overall diameter. Speedo error is negligible.

Tread width doesn't stress.

Extreme wheel offset is what puts undue stress on wheel bearings. If they stick out like skateboard wheels I'd expect very short wheel bearing life.

Yes. In theory.
Some tires have more 'give' than others. But general rule is yes.
