Different Sized Tires in Civic 2004

Hi

I just bought a used Honda(my first) Civic 2004 coupe, value package edition.

Have been driving it for few weeks and am happy with my purchase.

But i noticed something yesterday:

The recommended tires for honda are : p185/70 R14. But on my car I am have p195/70 R 14.

My spare tire size is T115 70D14. My questions:

1. Will there be any issues because of different size.
2. Will there be any issues if I use the smaller spare tire with above tires.

Thanks

Speedo will be off by a smidge.

2% according to a calculator.
50 MPH on the speedo will be 51 MPH.

Calculated mileage may be lowered by a similar amount.

Will there be any issues if I use the smaller spare tire with above tires.
Do you PLAN on driving on the spare for a long time? No more than 50 miles and no faster than 50 MPH.
It's for an emergency only, and no it won't hurt.

No I dont intend to use spare tire as regular but wanted to know if I use it in case of flat tire.

When you say mileage you are referring to fuel efficiency or distance travelled.

By definition, the odometer is off by the same 2% as the speedometer.

When I typed the reply out, I meant calculated gas mileage, simply because of
1) odometer error and
2) taller tires alter the effective final gear ratios.
True gas mileage may or may not really change, if mileage is calculated using a GPS instead of the odometer for true miles traveled.

im a bit confused by your replys,

i dont think his tires are any taller than stock, they are just a bit wider, and in that case it would not affect the speedo or odometer at all, the overall diameter of the wheel/tire has not changed

Re: Different Sized Tires in Civic 2004

They are taller in addition to wider.
1/2" increase in diameter.

Take your 2 tire sizes and go to any tire size calculator. I used this one:

http://tire-size-conversion.com/tire-size-calculator/

Plug the numbers in to the area labeled "Tire Size Comparison Calculator" near the bottom of the page, it will show you the difference in size.

It will also show you the differences in speed at various speeds (speedometer error).

If you want wider without taller, you have to go down in aspect ratio (the 70 would need to come down a step to 65). According to the calculator, that would be 0.2" shorter diameter than stock.
