Brake Help

I just bought a 2001 Honda Civic LX a couple of weeks ago, and after driving it for a couple weeks i want to put new brakes on it. I've done brakes on my old Explorer several times and on other vehicles. As i jack it up and take off the lug nuts the tire doesnt budge. Is this a common thing? please give me feed back.

Re: Brake Help

Yes, it is a common thing. What's happening is the aluminum wheel has corroded and seized to the wheel hub, you should put anti-seize or bearing grease on the hub to prevent this from happening, but most people don't.

With a rubber mallet give the tire a few cracks and it should break free.

If you real can't get it off, put the lug nuts on only half way tightened and go for a short slow drive, that will break the wheel free without damaging the studs.
