03 civic ex e brake loose

03 civic ex e brake loose

i have a 2003 honda civic ex 5 speed. i was wondering if there is a way to tighten up the e brake so its harder also the handle is loose too meaning there is ALOT of play before it starts to engage. thanks.

Jack up the rear end and put it on stands. Open up the rear of the center console . Now, spin a rear wheel and tighten the bolt on the e-brake cable inside the console until it just catches and stops the wheel. Then back it off just a bit. Put the console back together, drop the rear end and you're done.
