Need help with wheel sizing

Hey community, I needed help answering two questions please.

1. What are the specifications(offset, backwidth) for the standard 14" wheel on 7th generation civics?

2. I want to get aftermarket wheels, only I am having trouble finding ones in the 14-16" range, so I have came across a few 17" sets. would 17" with standard(not low profile) tires have enough clearance on the civic to not cause any fender or suspension issues?

Unfortunetly all the sellers know are the 17x7 demensions and the lug pattern which needs to be 4x100/113.4. One of the set of rims is ICW Wheels if that helps any? I just would like nicer wheels then the OEM Steelies I am riding on now, yet at the same time have standard tires so i dont have to replace them every 20,000 with Low profile ones. Any input is appreciated, thank you.

P.S: The reason I am having issues is because I do not want to drop $700+ in new rims and tires, so I am trying to buy used ones with decent tires on them already for cheap on craigslist.

Re: Need help with wheel sizing

what r u talking about when u say you can find rim sizes 14-16?

90% of what's offered for our 4x100 pattern is in the range of 14-16 (especially 15 and 16)

and if u do decide to run 17" rims, u HAVE NO CHOICE but to run low profile tires (like 205/45/17, 215/40/17, or 215/45/17)...and which are all low profile.

and just because the tires are low profile tires doesn't mean they wear out any faster then regular size tire

If your going to drop any money on rims, I think your just wasting your time on anything not 17's. 15's wrapped in 75 series don't look any better then stock ever unless you have hubcaps so you might as well just get a set of 17 inch rims with low pros. They dont wear faster however the ride is a little rougher, not too bad though.

Re: Need help with wheel sizing

I think 17s look kinda big on a car our size. 16s look the best, and 15 is normal so it looks okay. If you have hubcaps now, look at junkyards for 15 inch alloy civic wheels.

You would be surprised what kind of rims you can find at a junk yard. I know the pick n pull in Va sells a lot of decent rims ranging from 15-22in.

Re: Need help with wheel sizing

Thanks for the prompt replies. Um I mean I would prefer 15-16inch with standard tires, I am trying to stay away from 17" with low pros. I figured that if I did 17's I would half to have low pros. Aren't Low Pros more expensive, and I thought they did wear faster, or you get less miles on them warranty wise at least? Yea we don't have many junkyards here in my town in NC, but I will jump on that. I am currently on my steelies, and just would like something nice, preferably black rims. Being the fact I am coming across only a lot of 17's posts on craigslist I was just wanting to see how they effect the civic with its suspension and low bay parts. I just am trying to be careful so I don't go buy some rims and them come running into a lot of issues and replace a lot of parts in the long wrong. Thanks!
