Re: remove rust from front discs and rear drums?

Yes you can. Just make sure that you don't sand or wire brush where the pads/shoes touch and you will be fine. And use brakleen on the surface after handling them. mAke sure to get all the rust off before you paint and mask the contact surface.

Sand them with sand paper, clean them off with brake cleaner, mask the area off and give a few light coats of paint. Done.

1. rust dissolver gel and wire brush
2. rinse with water
3. spray brake parts cleaner
4. caliper paint

Re: remove rust from front discs and rear drums?

lol you guys forgot primer.

you can not use primer but the problem with out it the paint can run with the next layer because something in the spray paint acts as a solvent and makes the "dry paint below run. i had this problem because i didn't use primer when i ran out so i had to wait 20min between spraying rather then the usual 10min and had to use like 5 layers where i usually need two with a third just to make sure it's all covered.

Re: remove rust from front discs and rear drums?

ive never had issues spraying on a few coats of caliper paint. going on two years but i will be repainting next year due to some chips and misc wear and tear. the paint dried fast tho, i would say maybe 5 mins.

Understatement of the century haha.

Our climate has a huge impact on curing time of any reaction, whether it be concrete, paint or anything else..
