Planning on getting some 17' rims without lowering.

Hi, Im new to the forums and I am absolutely enjoying my time here. Anyways, heres the deal. I just got my 2002 Canadian Civic Si(ex) and was wondering if anyone has any pics of a non-lowered coupe with 17's that isnt lowered. I havent decided on which rims yet since I dont currently dont have the cash but I've decided on getting 215/45/r17 tires. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Lower first, rims later... You're going to look like you're driving a 4x4

This is my car with 205/50/17, stock height, and it doesn't look too bad. 215/45/17 will be a slightly smaller tire.

Re: Planning on getting some 17' rims without lowering.

kc8ktq, yours looks alright because you have a body kit which is bigger and sits lower than the stock bumpers, if your getting rims go ahead, but you will probably find your self lowering the car after wards. 17" is a good choice.. thats what i have on mine some Bronze rota grids but im also lowered 2" all around with type R lip kit.. Remember when you lower also get a camber kit and then go and get your alignment done to get camber set properly so you dont run through tires like candy. If you want to know about what springs or suspension set up to go with there are plenty of threads already on this topic... SEARCH... GL man. happy modding.

Thanks for all the inputs guys! Really appreciate it. Yeah, maybe I'll just go and save up for some springs, cambers and shocks first. Get her down maybe 2' rear and 1.5' front. Also, any thoughts on these rims? http://www.rotawheels.com/wheels.asp?wheelid=52 Civic's silver btw. Thanks!

I can photoshop them if someone wanted to post a good quality picture of their car.. preferably a shot of the car directly from the side

I originally got 215/45's when I got my first set of tires for my 17's just because it messed with the speedometer the least. That's the size I wanna go back to. I was forced to go with 205/50's for tires to deal with a freak winter I experienced in western WA state. These ******* are eating up my fenderwell linings (.5" larger overall diameter), even after I raised the height on my coilovers..

Re: Planning on getting some 17' rims without lowering.

the 215/45's were the closest to my original tire overall diameter (bigger than my original 185/65-15's by a tenth of an inch).

It'll eat up an extra .55" for you (1.1" overall diameter increase). It'll look like you have fat tires, so you won't have that "ZOMG!!!!11! LOW PROFILE TIREzZZ!" look, but it'll give you a better ride.

I've whored out this picture on these forums a lot to show plenty of people what the tire profile/drop looks like.

Re: Planning on getting some 17' rims without lowering.

I really like the Hyper black Motegi SP10's but they dont make them in 16's and I dont want to do 17's trying to keep a plusher ride on my DD. I ended up going with 5Zeigen Pro in Hyper they were quite a bit more but the color is so sick.

Re: Planning on getting some 17' rims without lowering.

So just an update on the rims/drop question a month ago. I did go for the rims first. Got some Konig S906 with Achilles 205/40/zr17. All in all I am happy with the purchase. 100 bucks for each rims, 75 bucks for each tires(Canadian.) The car does look like a 4x4 at the moment, but that wont last for long. The place where I got my rims and tires at qouted me 350 for H&R Springs. Installation included. Now I know most of you will say thats a lot, but I dont know how to isntall springs Either way it'll be low by the end of Sept. I also bought some crystal black headlights and a type r grille from ebay. Ill post pics up once everything's been said and done.

I ended up going with some Tenzo 17's with 205/45/17 instead of the 16's I am glad that I did, got coilovers on the way to drop it.
