Is there a harm in Replicas ?
Is there a harm in Replicas ?
My Brothers from other Mothers, hope everyones good !
Well luckily I think Im getting rid of my 17's now, (for $250 though
but ah well)
I always wanted to get the Rota Slipstreams 15's in Flat black, but they are costing like $800 bucks with good tires and stuff. So I found these replicas by a company called KOBE litesports.
http://www.wheelsnext.com/default.cf...MATT%20FINISH)
They look exactly like rotas to me, i dunno if u guys can find a difference but for $599 they look like a good deal to me.
On the other hand on the same website, I found these lovely replicas of the
5Xigens,
http://www.wheelsnext.com/default.cf...color=GUNMETAL
These are however 16's and the tires are 205/40/16 for $649 ... See the reason i got rid of the 17's is the 40 thing in between the 205 and the 16 ... I dont like the 40 thing as im tired of the noise. My car is lowered 2 inches, so keeping that in mind can i upgrade to 205/55/16 ? or atleast 205/50/16 ?
What do u guys think will look better on the ride between the 2 ? i really wanted the first ones (rota replica) but seriously these 2nd ones have kinda confused me up man !
So HELP ME !

Re: Is there a harm in Replicas ?
I personally don't like the first ones since the spokes are way too fat. Fat spokes and a smaller rim make the wheel look even smaller. Go for the second ones. classy.

Re: Is there a harm in Replicas ?
i cant see the first ones so go with the second. but the 40 profile tire prolly isnt the problem with the noise, its the tire tread and what not. it might just be a loud tire. my tires are load as ****.

most rim are replica or something lol. as long as its structurally made well, i dont see a problem. its just design.
Re: Is there a harm in Replicas ?
My car came with ICON wheels and they've lasted me 3 1/2 years now. I've never heard of them before I got them. Plus the cheap tires that are on them are still going at almost 30k.

Re: Is there a harm in Replicas ?
Um you realize the rotas themselves are knockoffs right?
The key in knockoffs is to buy reputable ones.
I personally can't stand em, but if its what you got money for, then hey.
The cheaper they get, the crummier the material tends to be. Rotas seem to be tried and true durable, thats not true of all of them. A fair number of copies (especially the copies of copies) are either very brittle (they crack) or incredibly soft (they bend easily). When you start cheaping down the aluminum (especially considering how expensive aluminum is these days) you start losing the strength of the rim.

rota ss are awesome. i use them as my winter shoes. i've gone over so many potholes and they still alive with cracks or bending. trust me, they've been abused on the nj/ny roads. imo i would go with rota slips, great replicas of spoon. get it and get some odyssey h center caps. you'll have a clean looking whip with your drop!!!
Re: Is there a harm in Replicas ?
Ok guys I just fixed the link for the pics to the first set if rims. So basically u guys are saying that Replicas are good as long as the build is good eh ?
The main reason why im getting rid of my 17's is because of the road noise and rigid ride. U gotta admit that ride comfort is not available with these 17s on our cars man .... Im basically looking for some quite wheels and tire package and therefore i got the idea of switching back to 15's which the car originally came with ... I have tried 2 sets of low profiles on these 17s and its the same **** man .. Im tired of em !

Re: Is there a harm in Replicas ?
have you ever tried 205/45/17??? or no?? I find it a better ride quality than 205/40. Still not as comfortable as stock tire sizes though.
If you want a more comfortable ride, go back to 15's with a stock tire size.

Re: Is there a harm in Replicas ?
Thanks for your comment. For the past year Im riding on 215/45/17s by General Exclaim UHP which are rated by Tirerack.com as the #1 tire for quiteness, comfort and Wet n Dry Traction. Unfortunately, Not everything on TIRERACK.com is true. Noisy *** tires with ni comfort at all. The tires are HARD as Rock man ... The thread goes away like silk, Dry traction is worse than Wet traction, which doesnt mean tht wet traction is good either.
