Brake Setup questions
Ok, so today my dad is flipping out about how my brakes are low, and i need to go to Honda to change em and crap. Ok, now i don't have alot of money for all of this, but he said he wants everything front to back done. Instantly u i thought of how to go about doing this. Oh yeah also my rotors are warped...
Ok here we go what should i do?
go for the brembo blanks and hawk pads... but what about the rear???
go to Honda and be raped in fees
buy some $13 autozone rotors
buy some honda rotors.... (i dont wanna resurface because i read on here that getting them resurfaced is almost pointless, i might as well buy new rotors)
Go some other rotor...
but then what can i do about the backs.... ok so yeah im asking all that know about brakes... what should i do, and how can i put a feasible argument to my dad to not go to Honda and get owned by their technicians..remember im trying for also the lowest cost also. I thank you all greatly

Re: Brake Setup questions
even tho your front brake pads need to be replaced, does not necessairly mean that you need to have your rear drum shoes replaced. the rears do only about ~15-20% of the cars braking, so they wear down less than the fronts. do yourself a favor and take off the rear drum cover and visually inspect the life of the shoes.
if you dont know how to work on your own car than i guess you'll have to take it to the dealership, or some other shop. you dont need fancy rotors, any will do really. i personally have the brembo blanks. just make sure that you get yourself a good pair of pads, that matters the most.

Re: Brake Setup questions
My .02 is go with what you can afford.
As Da1ly stated you probably won't have to jack with the rears at all. Pop the drums off and take a look at them first before buying new ones. A trick to getting the drums off is taking metric machine screw (or bolt) and screwing it into the two holes on the drum. It will push the drum off and you don't have to kill yourself trying to pull them off. I don't remember what thread pitch it has to be, but here's the one I use - next to my key for reference. I recommend a bolt, not the screw that I have. If you have to replace the shoes, just get your autozone Brand whatevers with a warranty.
For the front, if you're strapped for cash, get whatever Autozone rotor that has a good warranty and similar pads. Preferably at least their ceramic pads, although those will cost just as much as Hawks or EBCs. I always go with new rotors because brakes aren't something to mess around with. Its probably the most important safety feature on your car, so why go cheap?
Hope that helps. Brakes are easy to do. A front rotor and pad replace takes me 30 minutes from wheels up to wheels down. Drums are a little trickier, but if you do have to do them, do one side at a time, leaving one side intact so you have something to refer to when you put it back together.
Complete brake job + leftover extra parts = JDM wanksta

Re: Brake Setup questions
^^^ i recommend looking at PBR Axxis pads or Hawk HPS pads, these pads dont cost too much depending on which one you go with and their "performance" is better than stock or any autozone pad you'll get.

Re: Brake Setup questions
Ive had the best results with Hawk HPS. Minimal brake dust and excellent stoppage. Brembo blanks are fine but autozone rotors are best bang for the buck.

ok cool nice score..also just to let you down.. its not bad to machine ur rotors whoever told u that, its not pointless. its only pointless if your machining them more than once or maybe twice. ive machined my rotors twice already and they work just as good as when i first got them. upgrading your pads works miracles with machined rotors. Since you bought the brembo blanks you'll be set though so no worries there. But when they do start to wear, there wont be any problem machining them...

Re: Brake Setup questions
I have Brembo Blanks and Hawk HPS pads and I love em....they are amazing...they can be alittle noisy sometimes, but its worth it...I also heard the Dezod pads are supposed to be good....I think next time I am gonna try Dezod pads and either Autozone Rotors or Brembo Blanks again......
