Rotas ? NEone ?
Rotas ? NEone ?
Hey Guys ... Im downgrading from 17's to 15's with in the next few weeks. 300 miles of highway driving per week isnt that comfortable with 17's and plus .. Im tired of the look of the wheels and was willing for a change.
My options right now are:
1) 04/05 Oem 5spoke Alloy wheels which are perfect factory specs.
2) Replicas of Rotas which are about $600 with tires (15inches with 205./50/15) installed at this local wheel place.
3) Theres a deal on original Rotas on ebay for $465 with shipping (just wheels) which im considereing the most .. How much would tires cost if i get these ??
The most important thing is that I have no clue abt OFFSET and stuff when it comes to wheels... Can someone tell me if 15x6.5 4x100 meant for our civics please ??? i know that 4x100 is the lug pattern but i have no clue abt offset stuff.
Does anyone on the forum have experience with these Rotas ??? i heard they are a good name brand ... but nothing more ... Thanks

Re: Rotas ? NEone ?
15 inches is the width of the rim, and your 6.5 is how thick the tire is (6.5 inches in this case)
This will help you:

Re: Rotas ? NEone ?
Its a little more complicated then that.
Wheel offset
The wheel's offset is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel. To determine wheel offset:
* Position the wheel on a flat surface and measure its overall width.
* Divide the overall width by two, then subtract this result from the backspace value.
Offset = Backspace - (Rim Width ÷ 2)
The offset of a wheel can be one of the following three settings:
Zero offset:
The hub mounting surface is even with the centerline of the wheel.
Positive offset:
The hub mounting surface is toward the front or wheel side of the wheel. Positive offset wheels are generally found on front-wheel drive cars.
Negative offset:
The hub mounting surface is toward the back or brake side of the wheel's centerline. "Deep dish" wheels are typically negative offset.

Basically you can't really generalize how much tires are going to cost you, again it depends on what type of tire you want, Low Profile tires are gonna cost you some dough, especially all season, if you get stock rims the tires are gonna be cheap and easy to come by, its also going to depend on the mileage of the tire you are getting 40k 60k, w/e, best bet for ride quality is to stick with stock, they put them on there for a reason, can't go wrong with it...

you can get rotas at jlbmotorsports...where i order mine from...good customer service, i got my Circuit 10's in 16's for $480 shipped. If you want 15's they are about $420 shipped depending on what wheel you want. They carry most Rota wheels
Re: Rotas ? NEone ?
Thank you everyone for all your input . and that website is awesome .. a better deal then EBay i guess :-)
Now Im stuck deciding between the Stock wheels and the rotas ... Theres this dude who wants to get rid of his OEMs for 580 + 175 shipping. Definitely not a gud deal ... Way to much ... At the same time I love the look of the Rotas Slipstream ...
Ah well Lets see what happens then ...
Thank you all once again !

15x6.5
15 is the diameter of the rim.
6.5 is the width of the rim.
now, lets say ur tires are 195/60/15
195 is the WIDTH of the tire
60 is fender wall (measurment from ur rim to the end of the tire)
and 15 is ur rim size.

Re: Rotas ? NEone ?
rota are nice... but why 15??? go for 16's....
you can have a 50 fenderwall, and 50 is a really good ride quality.
plus that rota slipstreams are only 13 lbs.

Re: Rotas ? NEone ?
15's you can get a better variety of tire. IMO
Ive finally just settled on 215/45/16 G-force sports TA's for my 16's cheep, but cant find a good track tire.
Oh and that slipstream only was 12.5lbs and its still hella light with a slick! LOL

Re: Rotas ? NEone ?
haha no problem buddy..i remember when you posted pics of your car and everyone was hating on it cause of the blue lugs and the red rims...but your ride is dope
for not being cookie cutter
Why such a small sidewall for 16's ? Dont you have a big *** gap, unless your drop is like 3'

Re: Rotas ? NEone ?
we used to call the spoon replica of rota as "spork". lol
anyway, rota is good. good enough to get a huge market share. but they're just heavier. they claim to have some light-weight collections but i haven't tried them on yet.
im not sure about the rota replica since this is the first time i heard that they even existed. go for the "original" rota. they're good.

Re: Rotas ? NEone ?
actually the 60 isn't a measurement, its a percentage of the width. if the 60 was just a measurement then 205/45/17 and 215/45/17 tires would have the same amount of sidewall which is obviously not true. 215/45/17's have more sidewall because 45 percent of 215 is more than 45 percent of 205.

here's mine.. get what YOU like..since people will hate...
