Well, as what the title sayz. I'll be buying a new set of rims 17" from this one shop and the only tire brand that they carries an has the 205 45 17 are Yokohama, Kumoh, Dunlop and Hankook. (nitto don't have the size GRRRR) Do you guys have any suggestion on which might be a better brand than the other? and which gives a better overall performance like how it rides and how it sticks during a rainy day.
thanks!

I have a set of Dunlop Direzza DZ 101 (215/45 17) on my car. I think theyre pretty good, not too expensive either. I took my car out on a touge run the day after to break them in, and they handled superbly in my opinion.
Just go with 215/45/R17 its only 1% off. For brand I'd say go with Toyo if you can but not Hankook, and I've heard bad things about Nitto too.

Shop somewhere else for tires and get Falken Ziex Ze 512, why do you have to get your tires there? Between what you've listed though, I'd go with Kumho's.

Hankooks are decent too, good tread life and fair pricing. Toyo's have shitty tread life and are expensive IMO. If you can find them Cooper Zeon Sport As are good all around as well.

so basically, yokohama.. dunlop and kumho. I'll look into these aswell and do my research on them. so far kumho's / hankook has the most vote.

i had two sets of each, and i think the kuhmos are better, but depending on the place the hankook are prolly a little cheaper. still good tires for a dd, but be careful of hydroplaning if you camber is even a little off. i ended up doing a 360 on a freeway on ramp (the cloverleaf one) once in the rain, with cars behind me.
I have Hankook Ventus HRII's on my car and I don't like them at all. They seem to be wearing well but they have no grip if it isn't dry, and snow its non-existent but thats expected. They aren't the quietest tires either. Just my opinion on the set of Hankook's that I have.

oh wow, thanks bro.. but good question, (might be a noob question) whats the "rated" like w and Y, does that indicate which is for 4 season, wet tires and dry tires? thansk bro. and which one of those would you choose in your experience. thanks!

Common speed ratings are:
Q=99 MPH, 160km/h
S=112 MPH, 180km/h
T=118 MPH, 190km/h
U=124 MPH, 200km/h
H=130 MPH, 210km/h
V=149 MPH, 240km/h
W=168 MPH, 270km/h
Y=186 MPH, 300km/h
Z=149 MPH, 240km/h and over
Treadwear: Yes, the higher the better.
IMO: Falken's take the prize in Price, weight, availabilty, performance.
Over all!
I've had Toyo's, Kumhos, even Bridgestone's and some no names.... I loved the Falkens. (But to each his own)

Here's my input in all of this. Someone said 205/45/17 is an odd tire size. Yes its not a common tire size, but its the closest you can get without messing up the speedo. The difference is minimal. Most people get 205/40/17 because they want lower profile tires, and they think the sidewall is too high. 45's will give you a better ride, while 40's will give you the lower profile look. It really depends what matters to you more. It also depends on how much you are lowered.
You also didn't mention which tires you are looking at. You mention brand, but you can't always compare brands. You have to be tire specific.
I've owned and used Toyo Proxies 4's (215/45/17) and now I have Yoko Es100's (205/45/17), both are decent tires. I like the Es100's a little better, but not by much. Tread life on the proxes 4's were good imo. Whoever said Toyo's have crap tread life is not 100% accurate. It really depends on the Toyo's you use, its not brand specific. Yes if you used the T1R's, yes the tread life is crap, but the grip is amazing.
Tires are really a toss up, because everyone has a different driving style. Something that sucks to you, might be good to someone else. My best advice to you, don't skimp out on tires. You don't want bottom of line crap.
A lot of people like the Falken 512's, I've never tried them, but most say good grip, cheap in price, but the wear out quickly.

dang phuviano, thanks!!! yea, one of the reason why i got 205 45 17 is because of speedo/ closest to our stock tire spec AND it does kinda give out of a low profile look. hehe been doing my research about sizes but when it comes to brand and kind, it wasnt enough. so basically its Yoko Es100's vs Falken 512 vs kumho ecsta.. dammit, i have to decide one way or the other since iam getting my rims next next week!!!

I'm the one who mentioned Toyo tires are crap for tread life. For one I had FZ4s on my Civic, yeah they grip for oh...6 months then no tread left. I also had a set of Toyo's on my newly acquired Ridgeline (brother's choice in tire) and same thing..CRAP!
I replaced the Crap with Falken and felt they were not even comparable. Falken's are a better buy - bottom line..
