brake question

i've done brake pad installations on an 03 civic and it went smoothly.. took pads out.. pushed piston back in with the c-clamp etc.. but for some reason wen i tried to do it on my 04 civic.. it seems like the spacing mite be a bit shorter.. altho the piston is fully pushed in.. the gap of the new pads are still too small to fit on the rotor.. has anyone else experienced this with their 04? .. i've alredy read the threads and yes my piston is fully pushed in.. seems to me like the brake pads are too thick.. btw they are raybestos brake pads .. let me kno.. thx

maybe you don't have the right pads is the first thought but are you sure that you pushed the piston completely flat with the cap removed from the resevoir ?

The calipers haven't changed in eons. The honda 10.2" setup is the same on all the cars that have it... DC2s, EM1s, these things, etc and so are the pads.
Measure the rotors, make sure you have the right rotors and they aren't too thick. The corner of the pad should be chamfered, try and see if you can slide the pad over the rotor using the relief they give you.

The floating assembly yes, unsure on the bracket, but the floating assy, bolts to the 7th gen bracket, and its unlikely you'll break the bracket.

I just did a breakjob on my civic today, had the same problem. Parts store gave me Raybestos PPB695 breakpads which were the right shape, and fit in the clips, but were slightly to thick for the caliper to fit. I returned them and they gave me the Raybestos PPB695A pads (same number with the addition of the letter A). The second set of pads from the parts store fit perfectly, and my breaks work great. I hope this helps

Peace,
Peter

i think it's just the rotors on the 04 you have has a les worn or non resurfaced rotor... it's thicker.... there some play in the caliper as well, i just messed around with it and wiggled it in.
