stupid question need help, can 17" 4 lug universal go on 5 lug?

stupid question need help, can 17" 4 lug universal go on 5 lug?
I always thought "universal" meant it could go on any type of car, but I've been told that 4 lug "universal" would not fit on a 5 lug car such Type S and so on, true?

Ummm...Universal 4 lug usually means it will fit either a 4x100 or 4x114.3

i believe RH evo made a set of their C2 Evo's rims universal 4 AND 5 lug (5x100 and 4x100?). but most cases, its either universal 4 lug or universal 5 lug.

4x100/4x114
5x100/5x114
then theirs the GM/domestic pattern 5x108/etc

4 bolt universal -- universal fitment for cars with 4 bolt (e.g. 4x100 , 4x114.3)
5 bolt universal -- universal fitment for cars with 5 bolt (e.g. 5x100 , 5x120)

almost all company make rims for either 4 or 5 bolt patterns, not both
