I did Search and No Help. (tire Size)
I have a Stock 2002 Civic EX Coupe with 17" rims and tire size 205/40/17.
It's now worn and I will be needing a new Tires pretty soon.
I'm thinking about purchasing A tires that is Bigger and Thicker cause the size i have right now is low profile (only 2" think tires on the sides) and I didn't like the way the ride feels. It feels rough especially in a little bumpy/dip roads even in the freeway!! In the freeway my Steering wheels shakes! i'm tired of it .
i just hope getting a bigger/wider tire size will solve these or at least lessen the rough/shakes while I'm driving. So Pls. recommend me a tire size that will not rub on the bumper cause i have no idea whats the max. size i can use with 17" wheels and Stock Height (Not drop at all) just stock.
Thanks for your reply and concern.

If your steering wheel is shaking then your balance is off. People like to static balance 17's... meaning they only put wheel weights on the outside of the wheel. Make sure that they have weights on both sides inside the wheel... As far as tire size... im pretty sure you can use 215/45/17's but i dont think you can go bigger then that...

hrmm.. there used to be a tire calculator on this site..
215/45-17 is the size that messes with your speedometer the least compared to the other 17" rim sizes.. according to the old tire calculator..

actually. 205/45/17 is closer to stock diameter than 215/45/17 is.
a lot of people have rubbing issues with 215/45/17 aswell.
if your rims are 7" wide then id suggest you go for 205/45/17, but if they are 7.5" wide i say go for 215/45 for comfert
i just slapped on my rims recently, and the ride gets quite a bit rougher
