Do you have 18s?

Ok, first...I SEARCHED! both members rides and the "official drop pic post." there were only 23 that came up from the members rides search...and its too hard to find stuff in the drop post, most of the pics are red x's by now.

anyways....

im too low. the actual ride is fine, its not stock, its stiff and its fine...its just in the turns the car bounces like no other. Im riding on 215/40/18 tires with neuspeed sports and tokico hp's.

i want to either get:
Eibach Prokit which is a 1" drop front and rear
- or -
H&R sports which is a 1.3" drop front and rear.

i know its not going to be as good as stock...but i am tired of having to baby it around the turns! the only thing i fear is that the Eibach Prokit isn't going to be low enough..and will look like its not even dropped.

if you have a pic of your ride with 18s and either on H&Rs or the Prokit please post it up! (even more specifically, if you have 215/40/18 and NO body kit or lip. but any pic 18s with lip or kit would work..)

hell....if you're on S-techs with 18s post that too!

please dont lock, this might help others who want to run 18s as well. thanks!

haha thanks mang...well no rubbing at all cuz i have a camber kit.....and my tires arent wide enoug. but i want to go lower tho. like 2" how was it with yours? did you have a 2" drop on 18s? if so wat was your setup? cuz i am for sure gonna have my wheels tucked in when i get my new suspension.

oh with alignment i have a little trouble with it getting the steering wheel straight but i do my alignment like every other day(i work for ford so ya you get the pic) but so far my alignment is perfect evreything is coo.

well i heard with the coupe spring rate for the rear springs(since the fronts of the sedan and the coupe are prctically the same) is that it is softer than the sedans (since the coupe doesnt carry as much weight in the back as the sedan can) so the sedan springs for the rear is a bit stiffer. if you were to put the coupe springs in the back im thinking you would sag. i think i might have this mixed around or something like that. please anyone correct me if im worng here.

as for the drop itsabout wat you said cept for my rear is alittle bit lower cuz i have my system in there and i always carry some **** in the back there.....lol so yea lemme know if you have anymore questions.

that was mine on 215/35/18...but now i have a bigger tire...a 40 series. im really not sure what the problem is...but when ever i go around a turn doing anything faster than what your grandma would take it...my car has such a harsh bounce!!

like i said the actual driving is ok...like..not so harsh or whatever...but when i take those turns....

ok, you know when motorcycles or atv's or whatever race on a dirt track and they always have that part with like 20 small "speedbumps" in a row....?

thats how it feels. lol. i really wish i could explain it better.

anyways...im gunna try to raise it up a bit. if that doesn't work, im gunna have to go with 17s. im so sick of having to baby it! i love driving my girls stock civic cuz i can take the turns like i used to!

^^ well you say that you bounce alot when turning hard? well id suggest to you to get a full coilover setup if yo uwanna be dumped that low with those wheels still. your on the neuspeed springs right? well ive ridden on a friends 4 door sedan with tein ss-p's and he had 18s on there too and it was dumped to about 2.5" and man it drove like a dream! even took corners good too! and i did his alignment perfectly. so id say its mainly in your suspension setup and your alignment setup too, if you wanna get it driving right when in the turns.

225/40/18 on the same springs as the thread poster. Riding on factory struts and I don't get much bounce at all. Nothing has blown yet.

have you Made sure any of your suspension parts haven't came loose? Make sure all your bushings are still good. bump on turns i don't think it has anything to do with how low the car is.

this is dropped with eibach prokits with kyb agx shocks and 225/40/18 with no camber kit. i had progress coils with stock shocks on before and it was well over a 2" drop. when i put my exhaust on it was scraping everywhere. so i went and got the prokits and raised it up. i am very happy with my decision becasue now i also have enough height to put a lip kit on. before it was impossible to drive in/out of driveways or parkinglot entry ways with out scraping. not i can clear everything and i dont have but maybe a 2 finger gap on all four wheels. i think the only reason i got away with running the 22/40/18 with a 2.5" drop is becasue i trimmed my rear fender lip and didnt have a camber kit.

this should give you a better idea on what to expect with a prokit drop and 225/40/18's. remember that this was taken in my driveway and the wheel gap is a little bit less in the front. it just sits higher in the front because on the angle of the driveway shiffting weight to the rear. i am not going any lower just adding a lip kit. i ahve the cf type r lip waiting to be installed now!!

i'm running the exact same setup as you, tokico/neuspeed/ingalls camber kit front and rear and 215/40/18 tires and i don't get that bouncing feeling when turning. my ride quality is really nice considering that i'm dropped 2" and running 18's. maybe your shocks are blown?

thanks for the pics guys...keep em coming!

i don't think the shocks are blown...theres not much bounce if i push any corner of the car. it seems they it bounces only when i make hard right hand turns (its harsh on the driver front)

don't get me wrong, the ride quality is great and when i take turns even moderately its really not that bad.....its just when i try to take turns hard that its really harsh

try a progressive rate coil. the eibachs are just that. they will be soft when needed and stiff while taking corners. but i would always suggest shocks especially if they have never been replaced. the stock shocks tend to go quick with drop coils. so if they have never been changed it will make a big difference in ride quality and handling

im on neuspeed sports, which are progressive, right? and i have tokico HPs. i think i am going to go with the prokit...but im still a little worried its going to be TOO mild of a drop. i want just a bit of wheel gap..nothing tucked. my rears are tucked like mo fos right now

do you have a sedan or coupe?

you need to check the model # of your neuspeed springs as coupe and sedan models are different. i remember a guy on this site that installed neuspeed sport for COUPE'S in a sedan and his rear was sagging like old *******. he was tucked in the rear and as far as neuspeed sport go you should NOT be tucked in the rear as the rear drop is supposed to be .25" higher than the front. of course, different shock combinations with neuspeeds can produce slightly different ride heights.

*having a system in the trunk(dual or single subs and amp/s) can also cause your ride height to be slightly lower in the rear. neuspeeds are great for audio systems as in most cases dropping a system in your trunk will even the drop out all around for a perfect drop. the incorrect model springs could also be the cause of your bumpy hard turns.

as for stiffness, neuspeed springs are some of the stiffest available for 7th gens. h&r's are too soft in my opinion and eibachs are a little less stiff than neuspeeds. my mechanic said that my spring/shock combo was strong as hell after he took my car for a spin, which is a good thing.

btw: don't waste your time and money with the prokit, my buddy had that on his car for two hours and had them removed as the drop was barely noticable compared to stock. i would stick with the neuspeed sport if i were you. if you're worried about ride quality i'll be honest with you. it's not possible have anything close to stock ride quality when you lower your car. anyone that tells you any different is either trying to sell you lowering springs or doesn't know what they are talking about. lowering springs are a lot stiffer than stock springs to compensate for the shorter travel distance and therefore will result in a harsher ride regardless of which shocks you use. using softer lowering springs will not solve the problem as you will just end up bouncing around and bottoming out easier. obviously the lower you go the harsher the ride. if you want a nice soft ride than just go back to stock height.

sedan# is 55.20.61
coupe# is 55.20.62

my old drop was progress coils and stock shocks and i wanted a bit of a lift so i went with the prokits. before i couldnt stick my finger in between the wheel well and the tire. car wash guys always tried to stick the key under there and they quickly found out it wasnt happening. now i have about an inch of gap

*having a system in the trunk(dual or single subs and amp/s) can also cause your ride height to be slightly lower in the rear. neuspeeds are great for audio systems as in most cases dropping a system in your trunk will even the drop out all around for a perfect drop. the incorrect model springs could also be the cause of your bumpy hard turns.

as for stiffness, neuspeed springs are some of the stiffest available for 7th gens. h&r's are too soft in my opinion and eibachs are a little less stiff than neuspeeds. my mechanic said that my spring/shock combo was strong as hell after he took my car for a spin, which is a good thing.

btw: don't waste your time and money with the prokit, my buddy had that on his car for two hours and had them removed as the drop was barely noticable compared to stock. i would stick with the neuspeed sport if i were you. if you're worried about ride quality i'll be honest with you. it's not possible have anything close to stock ride quality when you lower your car. anyone that tells you any different is either trying to sell you lowering springs or doesn't know what they are talking about. lowering springs are a lot stiffer than stock springs to compensate for the shorter travel distance and therefore will result in a harsher ride regardless of which shocks you use. using softer lowering springs will not solve the problem as you will just end up bouncing around and bottoming out easier. obviously the lower you go the harsher the ride. if you want a nice soft ride than just go back to stock height.

sedan# is 55.20.61
coupe# is 55.20.62
i have a coupe...and i just checked the model number...i have the correct #.

i DO have a pretty heavy system in the trunk. 1 sub, 2 amps and a custom floor (similar to the DIY on the forum)

again, as far as stiffness and ride quality...im fine with it. no, its not stock, but i don't have that "ricer" bounce when just driving down the street...and im fine to go over small bumps and railroad tracks.

pretty much its just when i try to take the corners fast and/or sharply things go bad. i know i know...just don't take them fast, right? well i don't anymore..but im tired of having to baby it like i said...and i wouldn't mind being able to enjoy a nice spirited drive again. i really wish i could just have someone test drive my car and tell me whats going on!

an inch? that seems like it'd be too much of a gap! thanks for the pics

you do realize that an inch is _________ that much space in between your tire and fender right. that isnt a lot at all IMO. but it may be too much for some. i would rather have the extra half an inch in wheel gap than scrape my exhaust and cf lip on everything.
