adding abs to 05 lx
I read the braking faq and i was wondering what parts are needed and what do you think the cost would be to add abs to 05 lx sedan auto? Even on the freeway the steering wheel kind of shakes when the brakes are applied, i will be getting better wheels and tires soon, but its odd driving in a car that doesnt have abs, as it can be a life saving featuring. Also in the faq i didnt read anything about level of noise of pads that have a higher coficient of friction or that would be something that would concern me if new tires and abs doesnt do it for me.

IN no way is it worth it. You'd need the computer, the valve box, new hubs with the sensors in them, the wiring for those, reline the whole brake system and wire the controller up.... just flat out don't bother.
Buy an EX.
Oh and your brakes shake probably because the rotors have too much runout in them.

thats what i thought about the abs was it would be too expensive to change, well i cant buy an ex otherwise i would have, but they wouldnt finance me for one so that is out, so i have this car, what can i do to take off the "runout" then i dont even know what that is? so will anything help wider wheels better tires, different pads?

when i had my 02 ex it was about this milage or actually like right before or right after 30k that i needed new brakes, so i guess that doesnt suprise me that much, so just some brembo blanks will do me good? dont think i need to change the pads just yet?

How come your LX sedan isn't equipped with ABS? I am in Canada and my 04 LX Sedan A/T is equipped with ABS system.

im kind of mad that the 8th gen lxs now get abs its a safety feature so i can understand that just i cant afford anything but to be paying off my car right now so ill just try new rotors and pads then wheels and tires, then maybe rear disc conversion then maybe ss lines
Cmon guys.
Great job answering his question guys, but you never even gave a price on how much it would cost. By saying it's not "worth it" is subjective you don't know this guy even has a price limit for adding ABS. Put a price on how much each part will cost, then you can add roughly how much the labor will cost. IF YOUD DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH ITS COSTS TO ADD ABS DON'T POSTE YOUR WASTING PEOPLES TIME.
P.S. There has to be one of you people out there who added an ABS system or priced it out, or am I on the wrong website? Is this not the place to go with questions regarding 7th gen honda civics?

if you seriously think someone would go thru the time and cost to even convert it themself is rediculious... ok I'll throw a number out there ..................10 minutes later on a 8 month? old post $2500 approx on parts plus shipping, not to mention if you had to pay retail add 20-30% in cost on parts+++++++++++++++++ maybe $1000-1500 labor .......................................... hmmmm buy a civic with ABS if thats what you want! i cant beleave i spent time to actually look up priceshttp://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...artsSearch.jsp
