Brake Question

Hey guys, I have a question about my brake for my 02 EX. My car has 65,000 miles on it. Lately I've been hearing a slight whistling / squeak noise whenever I let go the brake pedal, not when I hit it. The braking feel fine though & the pads aren't worn out.

What do you think cause this noise? Any suggestion guys? Thanks a lot

The noise doesn't stay on for a long time. It only made noise for less than a second right when my foot is starting to let go the brake pedal. Once I completely put my foot off the brake pedal, the noise was gone.

Boilermaker1, thanks for your quick response. I appreciate it.

Re: Brake Question

BUMP

Mine does this too. It is a definite whistling noise that happens right after you let off of the brake pedal. Any ideas?

Thanks lowlife9!

I didn't want to make a new thread because, unlike most newbs on internet forums, I searched.

Re: Brake Question

I have a similar problem. For some reason my car gives off a high pitch whine (not the reverse gear whine) when I first start it up and back out. I think it has to do with my brakes because if I apply a little pressure to the brakes the whine stops if i am still moving backwards. Then when I let off the brakes the whine starts up again. The noise goes away as soon as i start driving once i'm out of my parking spot. I'm at school right now so I haven't really gotten a chance to pull the wheel off and take a look at the brakes (I'm pretty sure the noise is coming from the front right wheel). Spring break is in 1 week so I'll do it then, but do you guys, think my problem is the same? Just need new pads?

I've got 85000 miles on it and it's an 04 EX. I also noticed that at around 40 mph the steering wheel has a little wobble to it. When I noticed this I felt the front wheels and noticed the front right wheel was a LOT warmer than the left. This would mean that there is some kind of friction at that wheel right? One of my friends said that his caliper had gotten real messed up and he had the same problem with the wobble in the steering wheel. Is this common with the civic/ has anyone else heard of this? Like I said, I'm gonna pull the wheel off and take a look in a week when break starts. But let me know if you have any info. thanks.

Re: Brake Question

you need to first remove the pas and scuff them up, sometimes pads get a "glaze" over them that will cause that
