New tires!!!!!
tomorrow I'll be getting some new tires!!! I'm excited!!
I'm going from 215/40/17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires to 225/45/17 Michelin Pilot Sport 2's
only after I bought them and tried them did I realize that low profile tires are not good for a drag race setup ...
so now I'm getting some top of the line grippy tires ... I'm hoping these tires will be a good tire for drag and straight line acceleration/launching.
the only downside is that they do cost an arm and a leg
reviews will be up in a couple days ...

I got my new tires on and ... omg! ... they're soooo good!
just by feeling it, it feels like the Michelins are made with a harder material ... interesting.
I compared the size of my 225/45 michelin's (on the rim) and the size of my 215/40 GY's and they seem like they're just about the same size ... although the GY wasn't on a rim, so maybe it made the tire look flatter/wider?
anyway...
Okay, for straightline, these tires grip like a maniac ... I haven't really gotten a change to try launching or anything ... but on a cold night, my GY's used to break traction whenever I floored it anywhere from 2000 to ~4500 rpms ... now the tires stick to the ground.
The downside is that since they are bigger tires, it seems as though the car is slower ... instead of being 4% too fast on the speedo reading, they're like 2-3% too slow.
the tires also weigh 4 pounds heavier than the goodyears
... I'm sure that plays a huge factor as well.
Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my purchase ... these tires grip like crazy ... once I break them in more, I'll try out launching and stuff.

I didn't think yoko es100's would cost that much ...
the michelin ps2' are the most expensive tire that I've ever gotten haha. $172 each on tirerack ... but I got hooked up for $172 incl. mounting + balancing.
I only had money for two of them ... so actually I don't know if it will rub in the back. I used to have 225/50/16 GY F1 GS-D3 in the back and there was about a centimeter of clearance with my old 16" rims (+42 offset) ... but I'm sure these will clear. the 225/50's had a 9.1 inch section width while my new 225/45/17's have an 8.9 inch section width ... so they're slightly smaller I think... so they shouldn't rub in the rear.
I used to have Kuhmo KH11's on my 03 EX rims ... they were actually pretty good I think. However ... I didn't have problems with traction back then like I do now.
I'm not sure who the girl in my avatar is ... I found it from another person's avatar on clubrsx ... they didn't know who it was either ...
