Rep Power: 0 14" steel rims on 2005 civic?
i've just installed steel rims for the winter. My factory rims were 15", and the steelies i installed are 14", and I just notice that the caliper is really close to the rim, i can't even tell if it is rubbing together or not. My car is a 2005 civic reverb (don't know what model it is in U.S.). I would like to know if any of you have 14";s on and if you have any problem, just don't want to damage anything. I'm hearing a humming noise, not sure if it's the winter tires gripping on the road or the caliper rubbing on the rim. also planning on buying 17" for next summer, and would like to know a good tire size to buy to fill in the gap between the wheel and the fender, because i don't want to lower it, so the height of the tire needs to be a little higher because i don't want it to look weird. if any of you have pics of your civics with 17" without lowering springs, please post them and say what size tires are on. Thanks!

Rep Power: 297 Earlier 7thgen DX/LX trims (low/mid-level) came with 14" steel rims with 185s.
You should be okay...unless you have abs and it gets in the way which I don't tihnk would happen.

Rep Power: 400 All 7th gen brakes fit under 14s, regardless of ABS or non-ABS. It is a close fit, but if they're steelies for this car, nothing should be rubbing.

Rep Power: 400 integra wheels are the same specs as these are. Pull the wheel off, look for a silver ring around the inside of the rim face. If its rubbing, you'll know where. DC2s used the same 10.2" brakes as this car.
You may have a wheel out of balance, or it could just be the snow tires. They've got lots of little grooves in them to help them grab snow and ice... they'll also make noise on dry pavement because of all those grooves.

Rep Power: 0 thanks for the help, hope your right . will check more into it on the weekend. the tires are micheline x-ice, and they have very good grip, that's probably what's making that noise cause the pavement is dry today. just wanted to make sure cause that caliper was so close.

Rep Power: 233 14" didn't work for me. I kept the steelies off my integra cuz they had bliazzak's and i had them on my civic for like 10 mins before they tripped the abs light. really pissed me off because the were like 350 bux.

Rep Power: 249 so long as they came off an integra then you should be fine. The 7th gen 14" steelie is 5.5" widel. Your previous generation civics are 5" wide. Those would be a problem. But your 2nd/3rd gen integra steelies are 5.5" wide so you're ok.
I had a hard time tracking down a spare set for my civic so I could autocross on different tires.

Rep Power: 0 14" stock should be fine, the clearance on my 15" steelies is really tight too.. i run 15 factory alloys usually. I think its just how the steelies conform to the area.
