Got Pirelli P Zero Nero

I just replaced my Yokohama AVS ES 100 with the P Zero Nero (thanks to Goatboy for his suggestion). Just drove my car from the dealer to home and they feel a whole lot smoother than the Yokos (im not saying that the yokos were bad tho). Maybe its because these are 215/45 and not 215/40. more tire = more smoothness i guess?

Anyway this morning i was looking at my wheels and noticed that the dealer removed the orginal weights on my wheels (Konig Verdicts 17s) and placed their own weights. I vaguely know what the weights are for but can someone explain what exactly these weights arre good for and why they removed the originals and put their own?

Thanks

Every time you change the tires, they have to rebalance them. Hence, remove and replace the weights.

I can't really explain about the weight things but... can you post up some pics? I'm really interested in getting those tires.
How much did you get them for?
[EDIT]Ok, he helped on the weights... ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

You might want to wait until the break in period on the tire is done before you offer any kind of substantial review, not that what you're saying isn't valid and all, but after the first 1000km a tire will behave differently vs. brand new, esp. grip-wise. and yeah, 45 vs 40 will get you a bit more smoothness.

ramcosca - i dont have a camera right now so have no way of posting pics. i got 'em from tire rack for $118 a pop (215/45/17). An absolutely awesome transacation - i placed the order thursday nite, they were shipped out on friday and i got 'em on sat afternoon. heres a link to the comparison chart where you can look at the specs and pictures of the tire.

if you have any more questions id be more than willing to assist you. i agree with you dre2600 but i was just excited about the smoothness and wanted to share it with y'all.

i was just reading up on details about wheel alignment and wheel balancing. for those interested:

wheel alignment - consists of adjusting the angles of the wheels so that they are perpendicular to the ground and parallel to each other. The purpose of these adjustments is maximum tire life and a vehicle that tracks straight and true when driving along a straight and level road.

wheel balancing - allows the tires and wheels to spin without causing any vibrations. This is accomplished by checking for any heavy spots on the wheel-tire combination and compensating for it by placing a measured lead weight on the opposite site of the wheel from where the heavy spot is.

This could be the reason for having a smooth ride!

Glad to hear that you like the tires. I have had the tires for 2 months, great in all aspects. To those with a discount tire shop near you, they price compare with net prices. http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/home.do
