I broke stud on my front hub! please help

Well somehow, I broke one of the studs on my front hub assy, trying to remove the lug nut. I did a search and bought the Haynes guide, but I am still having trouble removing the hub assy. I want to remove the circle piece holding the studs, so I can bang out the broken stud. I found a parts diagram that shows what looks like a snap ring, as part of the assembly, but I can' t see that ring on my car. My friend said, on his car (American made), he could just bang the hub with a mallet and it would pop off.

Does anyone know how to remove the hub assy?

So much B.S. just for a $1.99 part install. ...

follow the rotor removal DIY, and then once the roter is removed it will be all clear to you.

By the way, samething happend to me before, 35$ to ask store to do it include parts. So I say let store do it.

thanks

you cant just knock out the stud on the front, you have to remove the hub assembly to do so. If you notice, the stud has no clearance behind it to remove it. You basically have to remove the knuckle assembly and press the hub out of the knuckle. Unless you have a hub remover or press and a impact to remove the axle nut, you need a shop to do it. There are tools to remove the hub assembly while on the car, but they arent cheap. it will usually cost around $75 to replace a stud on the front due to the labor involved.

thats pretty good if they are charging $45. with the amount of work to do just to remove the stud, thats good. Is that for the front though?

Yeah its not as easy as it is on other cars.

I ending up paying $40 to get it replaced (and the shop used OEM Honda sutds).

I just did the same friggin thing, Im just gunna take the knuckle off and bring it to honda. What a pain in the ***. Note: When taking off lug nuts, dont leave your 500 ft-lb impact wrench on forward at full power to take of the lug nuts. All I did was touch the frigging trigger for like 3 seconds and it broke right off. hehe

if you are getting a squeak after someone fixed a front stud, the wheel bearing is bad and you need a new one. Thats why honda recommends a new bearing when the hub is taken apart. Some can get lucky and reuse the old one but not all.

I had to have a stud replaced today because my horrible dealer cross-threaded my lug nut and then air gun'd it on. I took it to another dealer in town and they replaced basically the whole assembly, and sent a bill for $300 to the dealer that screw it up in the first place. I'm happy, I can remove my wheel from my car again.
