WHat you think about this Kit "Calipers"

Well its time to paint the calipers. Local AUTOZONE sells this for 15 bucks.

http://www.midwayautosupply.com/deta...tion.asp?12173

Has anyone used this kit, how are the results. Good Bad.

Also, what color would be good for CALIPERS. I am thinking BLACK. AnyOpinions
Red???

I'm thinking gun metal for mine... A good thing about caliper painting is you can always redo it if you don't like it.

I was going to use this kit. But I just used the Hightemp, engine paint by DupliColor. (it's pretty much the same paint) Only cost me 5 bucks. and a couple of dollars for sand paper.

here's a couple of pics. they're not the greatest, but they should give you an idea of what it will look like. please ignore the dirty wheels. i'm swapping out the rotors for some brembos later this week and didn't feel like washing the car until then.

you guys are all IDOTS!!! you should NEVER paint your calipers or drums!! i can't believe that there are so many people on this site that do this HORABLE proceedure. even if your paint is marked "caliper paint" or "high tempature paint" NEVER NEVER NEVER PAINT YOUR CALIPERS!!! your calipers need air to disapate heat. paint holds that heat in, which WILL warp the caliper itself. the caliper was not designed to be painted, no matter what paint you use. if you want different colored calipers, buy colored calipers, where the manufacter had designed the paint, or dye, or coating into the caliper, tested it at high speed braking, and torn it down to test warpage and disfigurement. i'm shure "autozone caliper paint" has done no such thing. brakes are one of the most important things on your car, they keep you from dying. it is VARY IMPORTANT that they get the proper ventelation. don't risk your life to look cool, i guess....

A friend of mine used something like this... don't know if it was this one though.
he had to use two kits, because his paint just gave up at half the job.

i just used a wire brush to get all of the loose debris off, used a dremel to get what the brush couldn't reach and then sprayed the paint on the caliper. 4 coats and then done.

All thou i dont like the idea of painting calipers, i cant imagine a brake caliper getting hot enough that a coat of apint would hold in enough heat to make a bit a difference in if you boil the fluid or not. I would enjoy some factual evidence on your thoughts

Im not saying that hes right or wrong on the safety factor cause logic would say that it COULD cause overheating. But i would like to see factual information reguarding this. Because my exposure to brakes over the years ive NEVER seen or heard anything either way
