Rep Power: 0 i'm an idiot
I ordered me some tires for the rims i have on backorder...not thinking i ordered 205/40-17. The rims i'm buying are 17x7.5. On my new yokahama's it clearly says "do not mount on 7.5 wheel" on the sidewall. I should have gotten 215/40-17 right? Anyone running a 205/40-17 on a 7.5 wheel? Is it even safe/possible???

Rep Power: 0 i looked at the wheel/tire combo thread, and it appears a few are running a 205/40-17 tire on a 17.5in wheel... I wonder why my yokohama parada spec 2's say don't mount on a 7.5 rim? Perhaps it has somthing to do with the lip protection feature they have to prevent curbing ur rims. I think they will work out fine. I'm going to contact yokohama just to make sure.

Rep Power: 400 It probably says DO NOT MOUNT ON A 17.5" Wheel, meaning the diameter. I've never heard not to mount a 205 on a 7.5. A 215 definitely fits better, but thats not to say you couldn't do a 205.

Rep Power: 400 They won't look stretched. Those idiots put 205s on 8.5s ir 9s to stretch them.
I'd get the 215s because they fit better, will protect better against curbage and are not rubber band tires.

Rep Power: 264 wanna talk about stretched....I AM NOT BEING A RACIST!!!!!
a group of spanish guys brought in A single tire....a 215/65r15 on a 10'' rim....the damn thing had the tread torn off like a firestone or big rig tire does....looked like a frigiin basketball they wanted me to mount another tire of the same size on that rim...I said "you got to be friggin kidding...the new tire will end up looking like that one..." no friggin way I'd ever mount a tire on a rim that is obscenely too big for it...
IN your case not so much do it man the rim tire combi will look like everyone elses....nice and smooth...nice flat sidewalls for stability and less sag in turns...
