Thoughts on Bridgestone Potenzas
Okay I just turned over 12K miles on my car. I drive pretty spiritedly in the local canyon roads from time to time. Just recently I was taking one of my favorite freeway ramps at needless to say, a speed much greater than the "suggested" ramp speed, and I felt my rear kinda floating away from me. It's a good thing I had TCS/DCS on, as it corrected the car, but it still alarmed me because I've taken this ramp before without that floaty feeling. I checked it when I got home, and the rear tires are starting to wear a bit. Not that they need changing just yet, but I wouldn't expect them to start slipping so soon. I'll be due to rotate the tires soon, so we'll have to wait and see. I'm thinking that it may also be that I'm just getting a little too comfortable with the car...
Anyone else have any experience with these tires? Most of the guys at the Mazda forum don't usually run the Potenza's long enough because they swap them out for better wheels.

Which Potenza's, I've had the RE-950's on my EG and they were amazing for an all-season tire. The RE-92's that come stock on the new Civic leave a lot to be desired. The S-02's on the S2000 also have tons of grip and seem to be wearing fairly well after about 12k miles.

You're going to have to be much more specific, as mad_ox1 said. My RE950s have been fantastic in everything but deep snow. There are very few OEM tires that are good - just look at all the Michelin MXV4's Honda sells.
i just blew one of my RE92s..the car has a little under than 3k km on it..i drove over a pile of rocks in the country roads..was pretty much a dirt road..i was trying to find a friends house..and BOOM! i guess some rocks were pretty jagged.

A buddy of mine had the S-03s on his accord and those tires gripped really well. Obviosuly enough though, the softer compound means they're gonna wear pretty quick though.

had RE950.. stock size.
pretty darn good for all season. I dont think its a hot snow one.. but most all season arent that great for snow anyway.
but I live in Southern California so snow isnt an issue.
the rain performance is pretty damn good. during light/medium rain.. it doesnt seem to feel any different than dry performance!
the S-02 pole position ones are even more hot.. they come stock on lots of cars, ie: S2k.
but I think there's lots of good options out there too. the potenza could be a bit cheaper.
the thing is, they have a $100 off special right now. check bridgestone's site, or ur local firestone/bridgestone dealers.. might want to consider it.

Thanks for those links...I don't think I'll be using these tires anymore...actually I'm planning on putting a light weight bronze wheels on my car with tires that I can actually drive in the rain with...what do you guys think of a grey RX-8 with bronze wheels?
Just be happy that you don't find those damn Firestones they used on the 01-03 Civic around anymore, those things were murderous if there wasn't anything but dry, flat road underneath them going no more than 120km/h.
Photochop the rims on so people can get an idea of what a grey RX-8 w. bronze wheels would look like

i had exp. with potenza re950. very good tire for all conditions (havent drove in snow yet).
this is a tire i would definately buy again, but the only thing that will prevent me from buying again is just the price. no complaints at all. i gave this tire a beating and threads are still like new after months of daily driving use.
