offset question ... boiler? zzyzx?
I have a rather odd question ...
I have dc5r suspension that I'm gonna put on in due time ... which makes the suspension stick out about an inch farther (than the type s) ...
I've seen the dc5r suspension and dc5r wheels on a 7thgen before ... the offset is +60 and from what I analyzed, the wheels sit in a little bit.
here's my problem ... I am trying to decide whether to get type-s spec ssr comp's or get 4 front s2000 spec ssr comps ... the dc5s spec ones are 17x7.5, +42 offset ... while the s2k spec ones are 17x8, +48 offset. Now here's my question ... I would think the s2k spec ones would be closer to the dc5r offset, but I don't want them to rub the inside suspension components. I used to have 16x7.5 ssr comp, 7thg spec with 225/50/16 tires gy f1 gsd3, and rubbing was only a centimeter away
obviously I want to put on the widest tire possible, so I'm thinking a 225/45/17 bfg kdw2, but again ... I'm also worried about rubbing on the inner suspension parts ... also worried about it sticking out way too far ... I have no idea!
why would you guys suggest???

My advice is to call or e-mail Greg at Hondawerx. When he did Paul's swap, They put in the R suspension and he knows better than we would what fits and what doesn't. I beileve greg himself also now has the R brakes on his Type S, so he may know from personal knowledge as well. sales@hondawerx.com

If you have DC5R wheels you can always install the whole thing and figure out if they'll clear the suspension or not. My guess is they will because they were designed to and I don't think you can use the R brakes without the R knuckles and LCAs. So it all should put the strut in a place that doesn't collide with anything. If it doesn't clear for whatever reason, you're not going to be able to move further in for sure, so out is your only real option. You can try spacers on the wheels you got, or find a shop near by that might let you test a +48 (or even maybe the dealer with a stock S2K wheel).

well, I was just trying to decide whether to get the +48 offset 17x8 wheel or the +42 17x7.5 wheel ... I would get the 17x8 wheel, but I'm afraid that would be too far in...
would a 17x8 +48 offset wheel be further in than a 17x7.5 +48 offset wheel?

According to my trusty offset calculator....
Any number that comes out negative goes the opposite direction of what the words next to it say (if it says 'in' but comes out negative, it actually moves out.)
