Dark vs. Light (The battle)

After speaking with several friends and hearing from people on various forums, etc. it seems that while dark colored wheels (black, gunmetal, black w/ polished lip) are hugely popular...some seem to think they are becoming OVER popular and are getting over exposed thus making them an old style before their time. I just want some of your opinions...

Generally thinking there are way more cars with plain silver, polished wheels than dark colored but are dark colored overplayed? And are they really better? Just want some thoughts...

note: I've had silver, polished, gunmetal, black, and my latest set is black with a polished lip...my opinion: dark is becoming too popular for my taste...thus I may be selling my new rims/tires....

Yeah, you're right.... it got overkilled. Who knows whats next. All I know, it won't be orange... so I'm safe
If you want something new... get clever. Silver with red lips or something odd.

i really think it depends on the color of the car and what kind of scheme you are going for...but yeh the jdm craze encompassed dark wheels and overkilled it

i personally thik it doesnt matter. if a certain color looks good on a car than i say why not. who cares if it overplayed as long as you like it and it looks good.

dark color rims will always be the fad. nothing bad about it, but theirs something odd about them altezzas though (which would probably never go away)

i personally like darker colored wheels than silver or white. its not just wheels, even colors in general. my clothes are all dark colors, i never wear bright colors like yellow, orange, green, etc. seems like darker colors are more fashionable than the lighter side.

silver is basic, plain, ordinary, common, popular choice. almost every car manufactuer offers every vehicle of theirs in silver, it will never get over played and will always last imo

so far i've had silver n gunmetal rims. on black cars, the silver rims really stand out. my next set of rims will either be black, gold, or bronze cause I wanna use somethin i havent seen on my car yet.

yeah my thoughts are that yes every car manufacturer just brings out silver and 90% of cars on the streets have silver....however, while silver is the norm on oem you'd think by going with a gunmetal or black you'd be being different and stylish...but with all of the imports that people are modifying it seems like black/gunmetal is the norm in the aftermarket life. I have a rallye red vic and LOVE my new black wheels w/ polished lip...HOWEVER, I see SOOO many cars, not just civics, with the dark colored wheels, that it makes me wanna go back to silver or go to something a little more out-there like a bronze! thoughts?

those orange rims are hot, just not everyone can afford them, that's why its not really overkilled. gunmetal/dark color rims on the other hand, you can get them anywhere and cheap too.

I've had silver rims, machined rims with polished lip, and car-colormatched wheels with a polished lip...i personally liked the brighter colors because it brightens up the whole appearance of the car IMO

Yeah like my signature says the whole stealth looked is played out I see people with black rims everywhere now its like ehh.. I wanna do something different like putting my EBP car on some bronze slipstreams (even if them rims are played out). I don't see much people around my way with the bronze rims anyway.

Those orange rims were $90 each. If thats expensive, I don't want to know what cheap is

I'm sure other people have orange wheels, I'm not the first one to do it, but the liklihood of running into 25 other people that have them is pretty slim, on the other hand gunmetal rims are a dime a dozen.

i would go red with a dark color rims. bronze is usually good for dark color cars like blue or black.

Actually... since my car is silver like yours, I had also thought about a red or orange colored wheel. Now that you said that, I will do it just to spite you.
