Upgrading to 18" wheels

I have recently purchased a 2004 Civic Cpe. and have been looking at different sites for info about upgrading to 18' rims. TireRack provides a tire size of 215/40R18s. I am concerned about clearance and offset issues. This is a standard ride (ie. no lowered suspension etc.). Does anyone have an recommendations?

if you stay stock you can go as big as 225-40-18 and get an offset around 40-44
