We'll i also think that JDM could be rice, cuz how in Gods name could you justify buying expensive (and its ridiculus), OEM crap just cuz its japanese?!?!
SOme JDm aftermarket is nice but not all is desigend with function instead of form in mind (like Spoon and Mugen)

All this talk about "rice" and JDM is confusing.
We all have different taste and different opionions on what "rice" is and isn't but I have never seen a "riced-out" civic with rotas. Most cars ive seen with rotas are clean looking...
"Spoom" and "APC" = rice. Rota = not. [I]

this thread is about as gay as rotas are!!!! to me rotas are rice because they are a knockoff. i see "rice" as someone that tries to have as much on their car as possible even if they take the cheap route and buy all knockoffs, just so they can say they have more. you will never ever see a set of rotas on my car
post pics of your car and then we'll see centurion. I mean if you want authentic JDM move to japan. and taking the cheap route?.. hmm its a civic. If you dont want to take the cheap route.. why not import a skyline?
we all have different ideas, but i guess ill be laughing all the way to the bank when i deposit that extra $600 you spent on mugen wheels... while driving on my rotas

sure, if people made high incomes they would think about buying the "real" equipment for their vehicles if they dont suffer spending that kind of money. but your average american (which is over 90% of the US population rate: source is from 1999 census that was taught in my sociology course) cannot afford to spend big bucks to obtain that super high quality product.
im sure if i had 2g's comming out the backside of me, ill sure would down it for some volks if i was seriously into spending most of my savings based on automobiles. but i dont, so i go out and look for the alternate choice of favorite wheels which cost 40% of the price i would've paid for the volks. with the other 60% of monies, i use it for more important things. so even if i had the money to afford mugen/spoon rims, i still wouldnt buy it simply because i would suffer myself by spending big bucks just on rims
imagine if spoon/mugen/volk rims go for the prices that knockoffs go for... wouldnt u think just about any true car enthiusist wouldnt look back on rota/adr/exel/etc ? paying over 2gs just for rims is rediculous to most people on this earth.

Funny, I have rotas and this is what I do with them....

I see no problem in haveing Inexpensive Race wheels, because I cant afford to replace a $500 wheel after I go off course on a race track. I dont see them as Being Knockoffs, or Rice, or what not.
Seriously, Talk to the guys who do actual compititon with their cars, and you'll find that Most would rather run a cheep expendable wheel then an expensive one.. You'll also find that once you reach the $500 Per wheel most if not all would be running something like a Kodiac or Keizer wheel rather then some one piece street wheel (JDM or not). So you want to talk Rice? I see Spoon, Mugen ect as rice because for the $$ you spend on that, you could have gotten something much more sutible to compititon that would have actualy been cheeper (and Much cheeper to repair if/when damaged).

let the thread die in peace.
remove the "similar threads" option. too many people aren't reading what dates they hail from and bring them back from the dead. i saw a thread come up about a k20 swap from 2002...
