2.5 drop. What tire size for 17 inch rim???

Hey everyone I might be getting 17's in the near future and was just wondering what size tire would be good. I have a 2.5 drop on it. I am guessing 40's would be good but would 45's rub?? Any info would be great. Thanks!

I'm not all that understanding on the 215s or 205... I'm guessing that is the width. So do you think that would look ok with 45s or should I go smaller? I don't want to look all funny with a gap in my wheelwells

Get 205/45 series or 215/40 Neither of them will rub for sure

and yea, 215 is the WIDTH and 45 is the percentage of width(height) if i'm not mistaten

I have 40's on 17"s on Goldlines, and it dropped me just over 2.25 I would say. I am going for some 45's next, but it doesnt look bad at all

if that helps at all. It settled just barely a little lower, maybe 1/4 in from that pic. I thought the wheels would be too small, I was all worried, but it came out nice and clean, IMO.

You are correct on the 215 being the width. The second number is the sidewall height expressed as a percentage of the tire width.

So u are going with 205/45 ? cuz that's not much of a sidewall u kno. If I had a chance to go back to choose my tires when I had 17"s on mine, I'd defenitely go with
215/45 series just my .02

ugh... well I am bouncing back and forth here. and I noticed that the back of my civic is lower than the front... there is no space on the back wheel well and on the front there is about a half inch to an inch... what is up w/ that and how could I fix the prob. That is another concern of mine. I don't want to be looking dumb with a super thin tire like the 40's and have to much space between the wheel well.

well if you put 215-45's on you will rub unless you stay stock to about a 1inch drop...i would do either 215-40 or 205-45 and the 205-45 is almost the same height as stock 185-70-14 and most likely that would also give the most sidewall without rubbing
