gonna get some drag tires
I don't want drag radials or slicks ... because it's a very far drive to the nearest track ... and seeing as how it is winter, I don't want it to start to rain while going there ...
so help me choose:
1 - Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
2 - Falken Azenis Sport
3 - Bridgestone Potenza S-03
4 - Michelin Pilot Sport 2
5 - (wait until release) Falken Azenis RT-615
6 - BFG g-force T/A KD
to give you an idea, it's gonna be from the following sizes ... 215/40/17, 215/45/17, 225/45/17, 225/40/17 ... depending on which tire and availability
specifically, I'm looking for a drag/straight line tire ... and sometimes for street. Need not be good with cornering
(please don't automatically jump to the azenis sports because you 'heard' it's good)

dude, the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 is one of the best tires ever made. they are so good that 99 percent of all cop cars out there use them. i want to get these.. these apparently have the best traction in wet and dry
look at tirerack.com

they were really really good ... never ever chirped even with I launching or shifting ...
I don't know .. if there's one that's better for drag though, I'll take it. .. I'm looking for tires for some new rims that I'll be getting in the future ;P

i'll give a
to the azenis. they are great for autocross but not so good for drag. They are too heavy, and the sidewalls are too stiff.

djmota: interesting info ... I've heard more good things about azenis and dry traction than bad things

The big problem with the Azenis as a drag tire is the stiff side wall... Seriously, Falken put steel belts in the side walls to reduce tire deflection while turing... so you are reling entirly on the tires soft compound to give you good launches (Because even with low psi, the side walls still dont flex). Now if falken decided to make a Drag tire with a soft side wall and the same compound as the Azenis.... that would be a really good tire for drag.

correct. i made the mistake of dropping air pressure below 22 and just spun the whole 60ft no matter what i did with the throttle. I am running azenis at the track. They are not bad for drag but there are better choices out there. If I had to do it again i would have bought some bfg's drag radials for dragging. As far as conering traction goes they kick ***
