Snow is coming very soon
I live in Wisconsin so this post will go to anyone who will be driving their civic through the winter.. it's my only vehicle other than my show vehicle which is another story..
but anyways, my 15"s are pretty worn so I'm going to be buying some snow tires.. I'm thinking about getting the Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice Xs but does anyone else have any suggestions?

I just got a set of 185/70QR-14 Dunlop Graspic DS-2 from tirerack.com
tires were $54 each, 14" steelies $30!, they mount and balance them free, and shipping was ~60.
Anyway less than 400 shipped to my door, should be getting them tomorrow or the next day. I can't wait to try them out, though I'm gonna have to wait at least a month before a chance of snow around here. I will definately be posting about how they are when I do get to try them!

Toyo Observe G-02 plus...believe me (i'm leaving in Québec!) they produce 95% of the performance of the Blizzaks ws-50 but they're much more durable (50 to 100 %) than them...i haved try both...i like the toyo more because of durabilty...

i made it through the last 2 winters on 2 stocks on the back and some kellys on the front.. and their are some serious hills and turns out here..
back in highschool i remember making it through winter with 4 totaly bald tires one of which had some metal showing.. so more than the tires its the ability to drive in snow (ps i crashed that car 3 times that winter.. 2 times were sorta intentional though.. i just wanted to kill that car cuz it was worth every penny of the $400 i paid for it..

Well I just put them on yesterday, bit later than I said before but it hasn't even been freezing overnight till now.
They fit fine, don't look ugly skinny or anything either. tirerack did a great job balancing them.
They ride with a fair amount of squish, and steering input is pretty vauge but they are super grippy and the car still feels connected at highway speeds (I'll update again when I actually drive them in snow or ice)
I expected that they would be louder than normal tires because of the tread, but they are actually quieter than the RE92's that came on my 04! That was a big suprise! They have a muted tread sound all the time, but they don't drone on different grit roads and they don't "smack" road imperfections.
I'll throw up a pic soon (blue car looks kinda cool with all black wheels)

Ultra Grip Ice
I just put Ultra Grip Ice's on my EL and they rock. I've always gotten by on all-seasons. I never knew snow traction could be this good. For a moderate price they are awesome. I can't comment on wear, but I'm happy with my purchase. For those who complain about the high sidewall, who cares? You won't be racing in the winter anyways.

yeah... good luck with that mountin, you will have about 10hp at 6000rpm by the time you get in that thin air at the top there.
snowed a day or so ago, just about half an inch, but on I-95 it was bad enough that pickups were beginning to fishtail. I found a snow covered area on a side street and slammed the brakes from ~15mph abs clicked once or twice, stopped real fast. but that was wimpy snow, I need to test in 5+inches of ground clearance challenging snow, whenever that decides to show up.
poor car sooooo dirty! (its even worse than that pic now
) Yes, it's an Acura EL

Running on Wintermarks from Walmart, they grip great. A little noisy, but no more so than my Kumho 712s this past summer. I don't think I'll ever run around on all-seasons ever again.
